It seems like your mind is already made up on this issue, but I'm just chiming in to agree with @bluedaisy.
I found the intro video interruption to be unnecessary and annoying. I know you're offering it as an option, but why? What does it add for the user? It seems cheesy and makes me think less of the project if I'm being completely honest. The idea of making a flashy intro video that has zero function goes against all your stated goals on your website, or at the very least does not meet those standards.
- It's not fast. It interrupts me.
- It's not lightweight. It adds an unnecessary step to the user experience.
- It does not add to my web browsing performance.
- It does not add to my web browsing protection and privacy.
If you are insistent on offering the option of watching the intro video, please be more clear in the prompt about what it is you're asking people for permission to watch. When I read "intro video" I thought it might be a primer on Orion's features and how to use it. A superflous animated video was not what I was expecting at all.
