  • Ability to view / remove / edit cookies & saved data per site like Safari's "Manage Website Data" feature

  • SuggestionsDesktopDone

In Safari -> Preferences -> Privacy, there is a "Manage Website Data" button that allows me to see what sites have data stored locally. I can then remove that data on a per-site, several selected sites, or all sites basis.

This functionality is not present in Orion.

Additionally, I would like to be able to see (and edit / clear) further details such as:

  • individual cookies
  • local storage
  • cache
  • databases

Additionally, it would be nice to be able to whitelist domains so that their data does not get cleared, to preserve logins, for example. That way it would be easy to clear data more often without having to worry about having to log back in to Kagi (!) and GitHub or other frequently used sites.

Bumping this; whitelist and blacklist for cookies would be awesome. I love having granular controls.

Also, it appears that I have to have cookies on by default if I wish to have my history enabled? This is not ideal. Perhaps instead, there is the "Cookies" sub-menu with a bullet, single-select list, followed by three buttons (same type as current [Reset Orion] and [Manage] buttons in the Privacy options list:

      Cookies:
      • Enabled
      • Block third-party
      • Disabled
      [Manage] [Whitelist] [Blacklist]

Also, I strongly dislike the idea of having cookies and history linked. I have history set to manual deletion, it stays unless I tell it to. Then I can just search my browser history like I've got my own personal index of stuff when I'm trying to, say, solve a code issue that I know I've looked up before but would rather not slog through search results online again; this way I can search my own history and find the most recent links on said code issue and see if they help me solve my issue again.

So when I realized the only way to disable cookies by default was to also delete all site data stored on the browser, it was a rather distasteful surprise.

Are they not? That was my impression when the checkbox for "Cookies and site data:" says [_] Disable History . I'm trying to say I don't see a way to have cookies disabled by default without disabling history. If that option is it, it feel misleading to say "disable history" and not "disable cookies" or similar.

You can delete existing cookies from the [Manage...] button, sure, but disable them from being allowed at all? I don't see an option for that without disabling my history.

ForumNinja404 Then color me confused, hehe. Why does the checkbox toggle say “Cookies and website data:” (specifically with a colon next to the checkbox) right before it? If it doesn’t manage cookies, it probably shouldn’t say “Cookies and website data:”

This panel of the settings could use some clarification in regard to this issue, I think.

This exists in the latest version of Orion under privacy > cookies & website data > manage

Vlad Technically speaking, Orion’s “manage website data” functions exactly as Safari’s does.

Although in the description, they added a wishlist of being able to edit/change:

              • individual cookies
              • local storage
              • cache
              • databases

Which is beyond the scope of the initial issue & can be accessed via the dev tools if needed.

              I would mark as done.

Anyone who hopped in this thread and mentioned allow/blocklists should see the existing options in the website settings page, or upvote this fireproof sites request instead.
