  • Steps to reproduce:

    1. Enable the setting Show Keyboard on New Tab
    2. Try to open a link that opens in a new tab
    3. Notice that Orion unnecessarily and annoyingly shows the Start Page and the device keyboard every time such a link is opened
    4. Once the user closes the Start Page and keyboard by tapping cancel, the desired website is shown

    Expected behavior:
Show Keyboard on New Tab should only trigger when a new blank tab is opened. The fact that it opens when a link simply opens in a new tab is a bug.

Safari has the expected behavior:This didn't end up being the issue.

In other words, the requested page should simply open in a new tab without presenting the user with the Start Page for whatever reason.

    Orion version:
    1.3.7 (15) WebKit 8617.2.4.10.7)

    iOS version:
    17

      1. For example, go to the website https://www.dw.com/en/angela-merkel-opens-up-on-ukraine-putin-and-her-legacy/a-62052345
      2. The website will keep reloading over and over.

I've encountered this issue on a few other websites, although I didn't keep a record of which ones, unfortunately. It also occurs in compatibility mode, works fine in Safari, and even happens in new profiles.

I expected the website to load and display its content without continuously refreshing.

      Version 0.99.126.1-beta (WebKit 618.1.2)

      • Steps to reproduce:

        1. Enable "Show Full URLs"
        2. Go to any website
        3. Favicon button/partition is glitched onto the full URL

        Expected behavior:
The expected behavior is for the favicon button/partition to not affect the Full URL. Appears to only glitch when the “show full url” setting is enabled. Normal url appears to be unaffected.

        • Steps to reproduce:
As explained in BitWarden guide, you can setup shortcuts to perform actions in a faster way. I have added a shortcut for generate random pw and automatically copy to clipboard , following the instructions from BitWarden website.
However, how you can see from this screen record, it doesn't work.
I can't tell if it successfully generates the pw and it fails pasting it to my clipboard, or if it just fails during the pw generation phase... matter fact something is not working as expected

          Expected behavior:
I expect the shortcut to perform the action

          • Steps to reproduce:
When I add a new login and password, the Bitwarden extension does not prompt to add it (normally works in chrome and safari)

            Expected behavior:
            <no prompt to add password>

            • Brief Summary
As a horizontal tabs and non-Apple mouse user, I want the ability to scroll the horizontal overflow tab bar using my vertical mouse scrollwheel. I am aware shift + vertical scroll equals horizontal scroll in macOS but I want my vertical scroll movement to be translated into horizontal scroll while the cursor is on the tab bar.

              Details:
This is the behaviour in Firefox and it makes navigating tabs a lot more frictionless.

I want the same behaviour in Orion. Without this feature, scrolling tabs is a pain because I am required to hold down the shift key.

I prefer showing website titles in tabs so my tabs overflow easily.

P.S. I made the same suggestion in https://orionfeedback.org/d/3526-allow-scrolling-through-horizontal-tabs-without-shift-key which was closed due to insufficient clarity. Please use this post instead.

              • Steps to reproduce:

                1. Have your history set to be removed manually.
                2. Have history items worth of few weeks or more.
                3. Enter something in the search bar containing something from your history (from a few weeks ago or more)

                Expected behavior:
Search bar should suggest the items from history

                • Steps to reproduce:

                  1. Have a synced device (device #2)
                  2. Open some tabs open on device #2
                  3. Check device #1 (Orion desktop)
                  4. Tabs count of device #2 in the sidebar different than when the sidebar is closed

                  Expected behavior:
Tab count of synced devices should show same results in both views

                  • Steps to reproduce:

                    1. In Orion's settings, make sure "Start Orion With" is either "All Tabs from Last Session" or "All Non-Private Tabs from Last Session"
                    2. Open some tabs
                    3. Restart the app

                    Expected behavior:
Tabs should not be closed when app restarts

                        • Reddit apps open and the open links options from Orion are shown once returned to Orion

                        Expected behavior:

                        • Orion should show the open links option beforehand

                        Orion, OS version; hardware type:
                        iOS 16.4, Orion 1.2.5

I do one if needed but I guess it is easy to reproduce as it happens with any external app.

                        • I personally really dislike the behavior introduced by #1040, and I would prefer not to have it, but some people do like it
so, there should be an option to disable/enable it

                          • iOS 16.4 allows for 3rd-Party browsers to support “add to home screen” functionality. It also brings web push notifications. webkit.org

Here are the requirements for third party browsers as mentioned in the article:

                            1. The application has the com.apple.developer.web-browser managed entitlement (which Orion already has)
                            2. A WKWebView is included in the array of activityItems
                            3. The WKWebView is displaying a document with an HTTP or HTTPS URL

Not sure if all these requirements are already filled, but wanted to bring it up since people have this feature in Safari.

                            • Add an option to the settings to navigation to the previous tab you had opened after closing your current tab. The current behavior appears to navigate you back to the previous tab in your list. For situations like pinned tabs, this means that you may be navigated to another random tab in your list.

                              Example Use Case:
When reading on a news aggregator (like hacker news), I open a link in a new tab. Navigate to that tab. After finishing reading, I close that tab. I should be taken back to my previously opened tab.

If I navigate to a different tab in the middle of that flow, it could either return to that other tab, or perhaps return to the tab that the originating "open in new tab" request came from.

                              • Steps to reproduce:
                                1) Have cross-device sync on
                                2) Add a bookmark to your bookmarks bar (MacOS Orion)
                                3) Edit the bookmark and remove it's title, so only the favicon is visible
                                4) Open Orion on iPhone, tap Bookmarks -> Bookmarks bar

The bookmark without a title is not visible while bookmarks with titles shows up correctly.

                                Expected behavior:
Bookmarks without a title should be visible in both MacOS and iOS versions of Orion.

                                Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Orion 1.1.9, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 16.1.1
                                Orion 0.99.121.1-beta (WebKit 614.1.20), 2021 MBP 16" M1 Pro, MacOS Ventura 13.0.1

                                Image/Video:
                                N/A

                                • Just like in the iOS version of Orion, it would be nice to have an option to enable or disable automatic form submit when autofilling password:

                                  • Steps to reproduce:
After updating to latest (1.1.9) version of iOS Orion, pull to refresh stopped working. It just ends up showing spinner but reload does not happen. It was working fine in previous version of the browser.

                                    Expected behavior:
                                    Pull to refresh should work

                                    Orion, OS version; hardware type:
                                    Orion 1.1.9
iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 16.1.1

                                    N/A

                                    • It would be nice to have the option to switch to your own password manager instead of iCloud Keychain when using the new Password option in the menu bar.

                                      • Coming from Firefox I really liked when you could right click on an element and hit Q key to open up Inspector with the element highlighted.
On Windows it was always visible, hence the (Q):

On Macs it wasn't, but it worked up until when Firefox recently decided to change their context menu behavior from a custom one to a native one. If you would like to try it out you can open up about:config and set widget.macos.native-context-menus value to false in Firefox.
It would be really great if Orion could have this feature with an ability to customize the shortcut key, but a predefined one (like Q in Firefox) would also work.
