In the "Check for Updates" menu for the free version of Orion, it will inform you that you are on the latest version available even if a newer RC version exists. Perhaps show a message saying something along the lines of "You are on the latest version of Orion. For access to more frequent updates, please subscribe to Orion+"

    there are currently three ways to get the RC

    1. get 5(?) points on this website (which is basically trivial)
    2. subscribe to orion+
    3. sponsor an issue on this website (I think)

    I don't think advertising "subscribing to orion+" is a good idea, especially not at this stage
    also, there is no free/paid versions, but the terms beta and RC (release candidate) are suggested

    you don't need to pay to use orion, or the RC

      Cat Orion beta and Orion RC use differnt app identifiers. Beta checks only for Beta updates and RC checks only for RC updates. Your idea is not without a merit and I agree it would be useful to announce there is an RC for Orion+ users available.
