Hello Orion Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m a dedicated user of the Orion browser, and I truly appreciate all the innovative features and performance it offers. However, I wanted to suggest two features that I believe could greatly enhance the user experience.
The first feature is an auto-show/hide option for the Sidebar, which would make it possible for the Sidebar to appear only when needed and retract automatically afterward. This feature would allow users to access their bookmarks, history, or other Sidebar functionalities easily, without taking up screen space when not in use. This would be particularly useful on smaller screens, where screen real estate is crucial.
The second feature is customizable keyboard shortcuts. Adding this feature would allow users to tailor keyboard shortcuts to their specific preferences, making Orion more accessible and intuitive for a variety of workflows. This would be especially valuable for users who rely on shortcuts to navigate quickly and streamline their browsing experience. Customizable shortcuts are widely supported by other browsers, making it easier for users to transition to Orion by maintaining their established workflows.
PS: I'm having trouble with Orion's RAM Usage, for me, it takes 3Go of 8Go on my MacBook when i watch a YouTube video, any idea of something I can do?
Best regards,
Seoloon
For the auto-show/hide Sidebar feature, users could set the Sidebar to appear when they hover near the edge of the screen or via a hotkey, with it automatically hiding after interacting with it. This setup is similar to how dockable panels work in certain design applications, where users benefit from quick access to tools without the distraction of a permanently visible panel. This would seamlessly integrate into Orion by reducing the need for manual toggling, making the browser experience more dynamic.
For the customizable keyboard shortcuts, users would be able to define specific keys to trigger their most-used functions, such as opening new tabs, switching between windows, and accessing settings or developer tools. This is implemented effectively in browsers like Firefox and Vivaldi, where users can remap shortcuts to match their workflow, enhancing productivity and personal preference. In Orion, this could be added as a feature within settings, allowing users to redefine the standard shortcuts and save their configurations to extend the browser's usability.
Thank you very much for considering these suggestions. I’m sure both features would be valuable additions for many users, and I’m excited to see how Orion continues to evolve.
Best regards (again),
Seoloon
