While the idea is well-intentioned, it’s possible to shoot yourself in the foot as well. Web services can easily tie your accounts together if you quickly switch between them within the same browser, same OS etc. without taking any other measures. Whatever approach this browser takes it’s better not to over-promise and have a warning to anyone relying on these measures for anything important. For casual use though it should be fine…

Integrating support for some sort of cloud session (as in https://orionfeedback.org/d/43-something-like-firefox-multi-account-containers-by-default/26) could address that, but only if it could be easily self-hosted (third party hosted services are hard to trust).

since this browser is geared towards privacy, it would be extremely nice to be able to have multiple sessions at the same time of the same website, to separate tabs into e.g. work profile or other like "shopping", this feature separates mostly cookies, but firefox might be doing even more besides that?

Merged 1 post from Container tabs like firefox.

        Hey everyone,

I think it’s my first time posting, I will try being more active here in the future.

Really love what you are trying to accomplish with Orion and Kagi Vlad and your team !

I’ll try to support you as much as I can.

I also wanted to say that I also find those features, profiles (sessions ?) and containers very useful.

I’m just here to give it my upvote 🤓

CharlieCortial We have a plan for implementing this. It will be called Session tabs. We just need to make careful UI choices as Orion has tab groups, soon profiles and then session tabs. It can be too much for new users to handle.

Vlad No problem, I’m very curious what this future feature will be, but I understand it’s really complicated to do.
            You’re doing a terrific job 💪

Now that Profiles are up and running, can this mean that Multi Accounts Containers are in development?

We have been making good progress on this since we released Profiles last month.

Here is the the full functionality speced out in this mockup. We call these Session tabs as it makes much more sense thatn Containers. Feedback appreciated! Enjoy!

One thing that I find missing in Firefox's container tabs is the ability to sort my containers into folders or groups. It would be really nice if Orion had some sort of folder system for sessions tabs.

                    Looks really nice so far!

behaviour request: New tabs opened from a current session would inherit the same session. For example, CMD+Click to open in a new tab would have the same session.

as alastor57 said here, i uploaded a screenshot on how Tabs can be Sorted by Container, so you dont have to look at everytab to identify on what container is it running
                      See the screenshot

I am so excited to see you’re working on this. Switched from LibreWolf and this was the last thing missing. Bravo!
You’ll be getting my money soon.

And yes, the name Sessions is so much better than Containers.

One of the major benefits to me of container tabs in Firefox/librewolf is the ability to specify a proxy, such as a vpn location. Could this be added to the feature list please? Then it’s truly complete for me.

robrecord That is not related to containers, I believe there is a separate post suggesting this. Proxy is generaly handled on the OS level.

Vlad Yes, I understand it is generally handled at OS level on macOS.

Firefox has, with an extension, the avbility to specify separate proxies for each container. This is useful for VPNs.

I believe therefore it is related to containers in this case. Something I would love to have. Thanks!
