Something like Firefox multi account containers by default.
not quite sure what u mean. i do use arc, but ur explanation is kinda confusing.
are you looking for how arc makes one window basically have everything, swiping between sidebars for different spaces (which can potentially switch between profiles)?
eirk
No, imagine opening multiple incognito mode sessions with all extensions working by default, but keep them all in the same browser window.
all private tabs are isolated from one another. i think this already is the behavior you're asking for?
CostcoFanboy The ask is not clear. Assume we are not familiar with Arc. Can you describe the journey from where Orion is now to achieve tne minium feature set you want?

Possible duplicate of multi-account containers
This ask is describing multiple different “profiles/containers” that can exist under a single window and share extensions, but have separate cookies/site data. (for the purpose of logging into sites under different accounts)
“Sessions” in Orion will fulfill this request.
People need to be more patient. It's only been just over 36 months since this request was first made. It's not like there are any other browsers with this type of feature available that one can look at for inspiration. Let alone source code to browse. At least if there was already some type of mockup, it might make it easier to figure out how to implement.
But things take time and I'm sure when MacOS 20 is released, everyone will be able to use containers, or sessions, or buckets, or grease pots, or cubbies, or dank-pockets or whatever you'd like to call the fature. We all know what it means.
So, I'm curious. If I have a certain URL set to open in a certain profile, will embedded objects from that URL on another URL be blocked.
For example, if I tell Orion always open Facebook in a unique profile, will that prevent Facebook Like buttons from loading and displaying on another URL? So it doesn't just isolate a webpage to a container, it does the same for content on every page you visit.
When I have the Firefox Facebook container installed, all Like buttons, embedded Instagram photos, and any other embedded Facebook properties are blocked.
For inspiration, go take a look at the Floorp browser and their workspace's implementation. I am using this everyday.

It would be an excellent feature if Orion implemented the ability to assign specific containers to individual bookmarks. For example, Firefox allows associating entire domains with containers but doesn't allow assigning containers to individual bookmarks. Currently, Firefox is quite limiting with this feature as it forces you to bind an entire domain to a container instead of allowing you to save multiple bookmarks from the same domain to different containers.
This is an unofficial Firefox add-on that does exactly what I mean in case you need more information on what I mean: https://github.com/honsiorovskyi/open-url-in-container
MonoMatrix We will have this in mind when this feature comes to top of the queue which should be early next year. We have some exciting updates between then and now.
Is there a queue that is public that we can take a look at? That way we have a timeframe to see when this will be worked on?

Just as a note I appreciate what the Orion team are doing and thank you for an excellent browser and for considering this feature. Its very nice to see how its taking shape and improving all the time. Building a browser is not a trivial undertaking. I am an Orion fan!
I think Arc solves this in an excellent way.
You can create different workspaces, each one with its own cookies, extensions, bookmark, etc. And you just have to navigate between them as if it were another tab.
This is very fluid and allows you to quickly move to another workspace while working in one.
This approach is very productive compared to having a new browser window for each session.
I have to strongly disagree with Arc's implementation. It's only a minor step above the least desirable method of having different windows for each profile. At the end of the day, it amounts to little more than a UI tweak on how Safari itself handles it.
If you're engaged in any workflow where you need to frequently move between tabs of different profiles it feels very unwieldy. For example, I'm frequently logged into office365 with my standard profile (where I'm referencing some document) and also logged into Azure or Intune with my admin profile (where I'm taking actions based on the previously mentioned document). The inability to use the standard ctrl+tab shortcut to tab switch is a huge pain - instead I have to remember a positionally variable shortcut, and if I'm throwing a third tab into the mix need to add the cognitive load of thinking about whether I can just switch tabs or need to switch workspaces instead (and also remember the direction of the workspace switch).
I think the reason people are specifically asking for something like Firefox Containers is because it's the best of all worlds. A browser can still implement something like spaces (which Orion does have in the saved windows feature) but allowing per tab accounts lets you do way more. If you look at Zen browser, it's firefox based but adds a feature like spaces. You can tell Zen that any tab in a space should open a specific profile (so at this point it still works exactly like Arc) but you can also override that. At that point, a space is just an arbitrary grouping of tabs which can optionally default to a specific profile but isn't bound to it because profiles work at the per tab level and not at the space level.
This is a feature i too would love to have. Relatively new to orion, it was the promise of extensions that lead me to try but unfortunately ff containers dont work as they should so a native solution would be a game changer
GeorgeK im with you on this, been using zen browser also, orions promise of zero telemtery and fingerprint resistance is what pulled me in from zen, but without the container extension working i feel it suffers a little. If it can be implemeted, game changer!
I love the clean look and side bars in zen and orion
A nice Firefox extension: Container Tab Groups
