janpeeters 2FA authentication should work correctly. Autofilling it (and passwords) can be an issue (we need to improve the logic) but you should be able to pull up Passwords window and copy password/2fa code manually.

I imported everything again and did some tests. Quite a few of my logins give errors, but that must be the autofill logic. Many others do work.
I wasn't aware that I could pull up a Passwords window to copy the 2FA codes. That helps. I'll keep an eye on it.
Yesterday I wrote an email to Dave Tear from 1Password that the lack of real transparency and the lack of connectedness from the devs to the users on the forum bothers me and that I've known it to be different. It's a curse of growing as an organization to do it right, but still.
I mentioned that e.g. for a long time nothing is being done about Orion. And that I wonder why they don't put one or two devs up to it for a few days together with Orions people Vlad to have 1P user satisfaction repaired. Curious if I hear from him. Then I'll report back.
janpeeters Thanks for doing it. I know it has been frustrating for Orion users and for us.
@janpeeters no reply from them, I figure?
Dave Teare forwarded my email to his new CPO, Steve Won. Steve wrote me a lengthy email and invited me for a videochat and we discussed various things (mostly organizational) but also Orion not being supported. He didn’t know Orion and was going to check it out. He also said that he would discuss Orion not being supported with his devs. If it is only about whitelisting, he said, it should not be too much work. But he didn’t know if that was the only thing standing in the way.
I informed @Vlad about this call and we agreed that if there is no response from 1P (regarding support) in a month I could introduce Vladimir to Steve via email to discuss this further.
I was pleasantly surprised by Steve’s open approach and I’ve learned that he is also advocating a more user focused attitude in the teams so we’ll have to see where this will lead.

Tried Compatibility mode, doesnt help.

Usually, when the MacOS application is unlocked, the Safari extention is also synced and therefore unlocked. I dont need to seperately unlock the 1Password browser extention.
Also, the 1PW extention is incredibly slow and takes about 1-3 second to react and load, and after loosing those 1-3 seconds I need to relogin all the time which takes too much time.
Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Apple M1 Max MacOS Ventura 13.1 (22C65) - I did have the same issue with previous MacOS versions.

@janpeeters time for plan B?
bandolero Hey, I agree with you that 1Password is really slow. However, when I switched to the beta version of the Firefox extension of 1Password, it fixes a lot of things, although there is one major bug, i.e, you can't auto-lock your vault. So, after installing 1Password beta for Firefox, you'll have to right click on the extension icon in the toolbar and tap settings and turn off "Integrate with 1Password app" and "Automatically lock 1Password" and you're good to go! Also you might want to change the "Open with shortcut" to something else as the default shortcut interferes with Orion's shortcuts.
The beta version something works and feels snappier than the stable version, however there maybe times when it again becomes sluggish. Restarting the browser only seems to be the solution.
Just wanted to share this with everyone to make the experience atleast somewhat better.
Vlad Good idea, I'll contact Steve and CC you.
I also want to add that if you have 1Password Autofill set up on your Mac, you can simply press Command + \ and it will pull up the 1password mac app window and autofill logins. Makes it so an extension is not really needed, and is probably the best way to use 1Password until the extension is fixed.
Keep us posted of any progress, please. Really appreciate the time and effort already taken!
After more than a year of trying to get 1Password to flip a simple flag to whitelist Orion, and over 300 comments on their forum, numerous direct contacts with their team, all without any progress or a decent explaination, we decided to remove 1Password from our Popular extensions page and instead focus on supporting other password managers.
The best course of action for users at this time would be to directly email support@1password.com and request money from your paid subscription going into supporting the browser you want to use it with.
Vlad Extremely disappointing how AgileBits doesn't even care about their users anymore. They removed their one-time subscription and yet some users still didn't give up if that meant that they'd provide a better service than before, but it's the complete opposite. It's still beyond understanding how they white-listed Arc within 15 days after it's release, even when it's not even available to the public and is behind a long waitlist. And they couldn't white-list Orion, claiming it as a niche browser when it's been more than 1 year, the community has been asking them for it.
update today:
Hi! I’m matt_g. I do product stuff
It has been our intention all along that the choice of which browser to use should be in the hands of our users. That being said, we wanted to make sure that we had a safe and secure solution in place to facilitate that choice. We are ALWAYS listening to our users and especially here on the forums, but I didn’t want to share anything until timelines were more concrete. In roughly 1.5 months you should be able to add almost any 3rd party browser that supports the native messaging host web standard as a trusted browser. That means not just Chromium based browsers, in case that wasn’t clear. You should hear more about this soon!
https://1password.community/discussion/124112/support-for-orion-browser/p11
so supposedly by april, this should be resolved
Matt's post today may have been instigated by the email I sent last weekend to....well, I sent it all of 1Password's leadership team. I received a few responses, all courteous, though the email from Roustem (Founder of 1Password) was the best of the lot. He mentioned that the new browser support framework was a focus of the previous night's coding session, and sent along a screenshot of what the feature currently looks like. No mention of confidentiality, so i'm happy to share it with you all. Looks like a simple but elegant solution to our longstanding problem
Pseudo-update: The new 1Password "secure settings" feature that will allow for Orion (and any other arbitrary browser) support is not released yet, but they will post in that community thread when a beta is available to try it. I'll probably reply again whenever I get a notification about it.
