Currently it seems like there's no way to change browser chrome to light/dark mode independent of the OS settings. I'm a weirdo who has most of my OS in Dark Mode, but would prefer my browser to be in Light Mode -- so it'd be greatly appreciated if there were a toggle for whether to follow the OS dark/light preference!

Yes, I think this is a good idea. Quite a few apps support something like this.

    Some possible implementations:

    CotEditor:

    IINA:

    Raycast:

You can also do defaults write com.kagi.kagimacOS NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance -bool yes to enable force light mode on Orion.
defaults delete com.kagi.kagimacOS NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance can be used to disable it.

We can add this to Appearance tab.

@Vlad resurrecting this post, but I wonder if there’s a way to tell a website to prefer light mode, while keeping the browser chrome in dark mode?

My use case is I use dark mode for the operating system, but I want websites to load in light mode. A lot of websites seem to want to match my system setting, but it would be nice if Orion could tell them that I want prefers-color-scheme: light when they load?

Ideally this would be a default setting as well as a per-website setting?

rylon This would be a new feature request and a pretty niche one but give it a try and see if you get upvotes.
