I upgraded from version 123 to 123.1 and still had the same issues. However, I've gone and installed 122 and that's working for me.
Others can download 122 (for Monterey) here:

Yeah, I just installed Orion for the first time right now and haven't been able to make any searches. Monterey on MBP 14 (M1 Pro).
Installed.
Tried to import everything from safari (all boxes checked).
2.1 Closed the Finder window where we get prompt for password db permissions and password import failed. oops. Everything else succeeded though.I try to make a search from search bar. (I might have noticed that CMD+L didn't work to select the address bar either here or after the attempted search).
Suggestions appear as I type; I press enter; the blue bar animation streaks across the search bar as if it made the search but favicon doesn't load and the tab remains on the Home page (90% opacity grey + Favorites + Suggestions).I also had issues with the CMD functions like Marmaduke.
I've tried "Empty Cache", "Reset Orion", reinstall, and the factory reset option in debug menu. I also tried deleting the Orion Application Support folder.
In the debug log, all I see is two occurrences of
JSAPI: Error: Error executing javascript (executeScript). (JavaScript execution returned a result of an unsupported type) = browser.windows.WINDOW_ID_CURRENT = 1
per time I focus Orion (eg. I click safari window and then click Orion window)
EDIT to answer dino:
- CMD+T does work for creating new tabs.
- Also, the search bar resets to 'Search or Enter Website Name' after the "failed" search.
