    1. For example, go to the website https://www.dw.com/en/angela-merkel-opens-up-on-ukraine-putin-and-her-legacy/a-62052345
    2. The website will keep reloading over and over.

I've encountered this issue on a few other websites, although I didn't keep a record of which ones, unfortunately. It also occurs in compatibility mode, works fine in Safari, and even happens in new profiles.

I expected the website to load and display its content without continuously refreshing.

    • Brief Summary

Mozillas pdf.js is great, but it looks out of place in Orion so i sugest changing several things to make it look more native.

      Details:

Changing icons to apple icons would be a good start. here is screenshots of pdf.js and Preview. its almost the same functionality and i think there should be consitency in how they look

      pdf.js:

      preview:

Further more the color of both icons and background is off:

And there is no transperancy either.

Theres also a choice to make, if the goal is to have it merge with the toolbar or not. right now Orion have this thing where if no horizontal tabs are open it tries to merge with the webpage, meaning there is no seperation between the toolbar and pdf.js

this might be fine if colors match and there is same amount of transperancy/blur.

But there are 2 other options as i see it.

      1.

Use the logic of how Preview ads extra options to tool bar:

thats a seperation line that doesnt go all the way

      1. Do it like Mac Os generally do with overlays. that is often white on black background, here is how the toolbar looks when Preview is fullscreen:

      Chrome does something similar:

And if you really wanted to nitpick then heres a list of things that could be done:

Rearrange the icons to be more in line with Preview.

      Rounding corners of boxes:

      change the dropdown menus:

to something like this: (edited, I realised maybe overflow menu style makes more sense here)

Typography also seems a bit off, is it a different one?

lastly theres also how it handles the side bar:

      Preview:

      • on webapp creation, you're presented with these options:

that's great and all, but u can't change those after u create the webapp

I propose creating a settings window (like normal apps) that allow you to configure some basic settings. I also request a few more features. for example:

        • mobile or desktop toggle
        • always show/only show traffic lights on hover
        • show/hide title bar
        • optionally show app name and icon in title bar, or just have an empty title bar
        • shortcuts to open/close app, similar the shortcuts for opening saved windows
        • remember where u left off, keeping the url
        • incognito apps, don't save the data
        • custom useragent
        • toggle float on top

        • Steps to reproduce:
Just visit some websites and it will start happening automatically, i tried it in private window but its the same and the bug is especially annoying on YouTube. Tried it in safari no such issues happening there. please fix this asap.

          • Hi,

As of the latest update, Version 0.99.123.2-beta (WebKit 615.1.16.1), the Kernel_task process keeps stacking ram with normal use...

            There are no special steps to reproduce, besides regular surfing with 10-15 tabs. Kernel task jumps from 80mb ram to up to 1,5gb in some circumstances. This issue was also present in the previous version so it still needs further investigation;

            • Steps to reproduce:
I set my search engine to Google, and I found that Orion can't show the Chinese characters correctly.

In Safari, the suggestions display correctly:

However, in Onion, it becomes the corrupted characters:

Besides, I can get the suggestions from the keyword with Chinese chacters in Safari:

But I can't get them in Orion:

              Expected behavior:
Orion should correctly display the suggestions. It should also suggest when the keywords contain the Chinese characters.

              • This is a WebKit bug, reporting it here as well so people can find the answer to their problem.

                Steps to reproduce:

                1. Use Orion Version 0.99.122.3-rc (WebKit 615.1.14.3)
                2. Go to the comment section of a YouTube video (see image/video section for an example)
                3. Find a comment that is long enough to have a 'Read more' option
                4. Notice that the button is missing when using WebKit 615.1.14.3 (Both Orion RC and Safari TP 160 have this issue)

                Expected behavior:
The 'Read more' button should be there.

                  • Hi all,

As discussed in the Discord server, I noticed that Orion no longer frees the ram like it used to. Instead the app (Orion and not its processes) accumulates ram and reaches very often 1gb+ of usage. The only solution to totally clear it is to quit the app, but it is a temporary solution as the problem will resurface soon after.

                    Steps to reproduce :
Open Orion (compatibility mode to avoid any extensions interference) and open 7+ tabs and keep browsing as you normally do, you will notice that ram usage jumps from the usual 200mb to around 700-800mb just under normal usage, I must add that this behaviour is also present in the latest version of Safari (especially after the 16.0 update) so this can be a webkit problem but it needs further investigation. One important thing, this behaviour is best seen if you don't quit your browser (with command-q) for a day or two, for those of you who would want to experiment.

                        • Hi,

First of all I would like to thank the Orion developing team for the huge work and investment in the project, the browser is now more stable than ever following the last couple of updates and hotfixes. Having said that, I noticed that there is a very minor bug when viewing a video (no matter the website, say YouTube for example), upon hitting the F key to enter fullscreen mode there is a small grey bar on the top on no-notch macs, this I believe happened as well in the earlier 15.0 versions of Safari but were ironed since, is there a way to fix the minor graphical issue and align it with Safari? I definitely am moving slowly towards daily driving Orion for the next couple of weeks, including for professional uses. Looking forward for the next updates, namely the touch bar integration on touch bar macs!

                          Kind regards,
                          Ahmed

                          • Steps to reproduce:
Open several tabs, so that they don't fit your browser window any more (like 22 or something). Try to scroll to the last tab. No scrolling is happening. Before the latest update I was able to scroll through the opened tabs with my mouse (Apple Mighty Mouse if that's important) just like in Safari.

Did you try using Compatibility mode?
I don't know what this is.

If applicable, does Safari behave in the same way?
Safari still offers the possibility to scroll through open tabs.

                            Expected behavior:
Before the update I could scroll horizontally through the open tabs and I would like to be able to do that again.

Start Orion, and browse as you normally would. After a few days, observe that your memory usage has continued climbing, and observe that the Orion processes are using significantly more memory than when they started, especially as compared to other browsers with similar usage.

                              Expected behavior:
As a (completely non-scientific) comparison to Brave, a Chromium based browser, Orion handles memory much worse. Brave, after running a day longer than Orion, and being used for regular browsing, is using a total of under 2GB of memory. Orion was using just under 8GB of memory. It seems that perhaps Orion is not releasing memory as it's no longer needed (potential memory leak)

                                System Preferences > Screen Time > App-Limits > [+] > Websites

Orion is a great alternative to everything that I used so far, giving you the Safari experience with extensions and more privacy focused it is something that I guess a lot of people have been waiting for a long time.

I see a lot of post about bugs and issues and there is probably tons of work for the developers, so just wanted to say thank you for their work.

Latest RC, great to see that Touch ID integration is now done, but it needs some improving. In fact it doesn't prompt the authentication automatically like Safari does, it also doesn't login automatically after the authentication done, again both things are native in Safari. Videos are available in Discord RC chat.

                                    • In Orion, holding ⌘ command when clicking on a link opens it in a new tab. Naturally, holding ⇧ shift should open the link in a new window. This is the convention for most browsers except Safari. In Safari, it is used for adding the link to reading list.

Currently, this feature only works with the links in Bookmarks Bar but it should apply to all links and the back/forward entries too:
