Opening a link using the profile does not open in that profile

Opening a link through the profile apps (under ~/Applications/Orion Profiles/) does not result in the profile being used to open a link.

e.g. open -a "Orion - <profile>.app" https://apple.com does not open apple.com in that profile

Nor does this work:

open -a "Orion - <profile>.app" https://apple.com --args -P <profile id> (as was suggested here)

This happens regardless of the "open external links in" setting

If I open a link via the profile app:

Open the link in that profile

If I open a link via the main app, or by appending --args -P <profile id>:

Open the link in the specified profile

This enables the user to have reliable control over which profile the link opens in.

I have the same problem, i want to open links clicked in other apps in a specific profile (using OpenIn, see my request here: https://orionfeedback.org/d/11159-opening-an-url-in-a-profile-results-in-another-instance-of-orion ).

I thought i could use the Orion profile.app (in ~/Applications/Orion Profiles/ ) to open a link in that profile, but the Orion profile always crashes if i open an URL this way.

tafkafkaf This may help you. I also have the paid version of OpenIn, and it does't recognize Orion profiles. When I try to add a path directly to the profile, the browser crashes, just like yours. BUT the trial version finds Orion profiles without manual actions and doesn't crashes.

First, I completely uninstalled the paid version of OpenIn, then installed the trial version, configured the list of browsers there, and then installed the version from the AppStore on top of it, and it works like a charm.

I would prefer a more convenient method, for example, for Preview to have a choice of profiles in which to open the URL.
Even better would be to be able to create rules so that a specific domain or window title would open immediately in the desired profile.
But as an interim option, the ability to open the desired URL in the desired profile via a launch command would be good.

I have the same problem with Velja. When one of the Orion profile apps are picked, links are often opened in the wrong profile anyway. Really annoying.
