On MacOS Orion should at least match the functionality Safari enables when websites are installed as apps.

  1. Orion is missing an app Settings menu
  2. Orion defaults install name to current html title text. Instead it should pick the clean app name from the manifest like Safari does.
  3. Orion does not support dock notification badges. Safari supports dock badges really well.
  4. Safari uses the app name in for notification banners in the notification center. Orion uses the app hostname. This may be an Apple imposed restriction.

Currently, Orion provides more options when installing the app. But you cannot edit the settings later like you can in Safari:


With Orion the "Settings" menu item is completely disabled:

    We are currently working on an enhanced experience for PWAs, and your feedback would be useful.

    I have a question about notifications: have you seen a lot of other websites using them?
    Because I haven't.

      Also have the same need.

      I use such feature to manage my Google Chat/Mail notifications. Having such feature is very useful as there is no native app and PWA is the only way to be notified (beside the OS notification which is somehow not optimal)

      • Google Calendar has notifications that alert for your next meeting
      • Outlook has notifications that alert for the calendar and new email
      • Fastmail has notifications that alert for email

      PWA web notifications are very important for using websites as if they were native apps.

      Fastmail is the first PWA i've used that has working badge support which is really nice.
