currently the profile switcher looks like this:

which is fine and functional, but not really aesthetically pleasing.

the implementation in safari looks much more swiftui-like:

I personally like how Orion does it, but I would be fine with this change. What I think really should be added is support for FontAwesome icons (or something similar), so that we can use icons like that "person" icon in Safari.

You actually can copy/paste in SF icons, or even normal characters. you aren't actually limited to the emoji selector that pops up.

You can view SF symbols with the sf symbols app

eirk This is good to know - thank you - but it requires the user to have a local installation of SF Symbols, if I'm not mistaken. It would be nice if Orion could come bundled with a decent selection of icons.

esiayo That would take valuable toolbar space. We opted for minimal approach to keep the toolbar cleaner. I understand this may be personal preference, Opening this for discussion.

            Vlad alright
            can i suggest something though?
i've seen orion's incredibly customizable toolbar -- would it be possible to implement variants of supported elements?

so the main URL bar comes in two main variants -- with or without the profile switcher, or perhaps with or without infill?

esiayo Everything is possible, it is only a matter of priority.
