  • Regression: Viewing a pdf document using pdf.js requires the tab to be reloaded before the pdf is displayed

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install Orion Version 0.99.128.2.1.2-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)
  2. Attempt to view a pdf file with Orion, e.g. https://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/xhtml/testfiles/resources/pdf/dummy.pdf
  3. Notice that the file doesn't properly load until the tab is reloaded

The same issue popped up back in March: #7450

Expected functionality:
The user should be able to view PDF documents without having to first reload the tab.

Orion and macOS versions:

Version 0.99.128.2.1.2-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)

        Viewing pdf files with pdf.js works as expected for me on both
        Version 0.99.129-beta (WebKit 619.1.11.111.2) and
        Version 0.99.129.1.1-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4).

        However, there have been some reports like by users such as @tidyroad and @laptudirm all the way from version 128 (e.g. https://orionfeedback.org/d/7450-viewing-a-pdf-document-using-pdfjs-requires-the-tab-to-be-reloaded-before-the-pdf-is-displayed/6) but reproducing these issues has been very difficult.

            laiz I tested this again on the latest RC (Version 0.99.129.1.1-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)) and the issue seems fixed for me! I still have no idea what the problem was.

              I'm seeing this exact issue on two computers. Just started using Orion a couple of weeks ago so pretty fresh profile(s). Both are running Orion 0.99.130.2-beta (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4), macOS 15.2.

                Hey James,
                since this is a rather old bug report and the cause in this one was exclusive to one particular RC build, I request you make a new bug report with as much detail as possible. It'd be particularly valuable if you recorded a video where you create a new Orion profile via file -> profiles -> new profile, open it, go to a pdf file of your choosing and show the issue.
