Hello, I used a clean profile for this.

Went to the popular extensions screen and installed Bitwarden.

Now going to the list of installed extensions, I see this:

"2023.7.1" seems pretty old, and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bitwarden-password-manager/ is showing that the last version is currently 2024.4.2.

I expect to get a recent version of Bitwarden (I have not tried the others but I think it also applies to them).

Version 0.99.127.3.1-rc (WebKit 619.1.11.111.2)

    LittleSpot We keep the last known version that worked. Otherwise you might install one that doesn't because something broke. What would you prefer?

        Sorry for the late reply, I thought about this a few times and I don't know what would be the best thing for me.

        In a way, I appreciate that there is a validation process to make sure the popular extensions are working, in another way, new versions often bring new features, and most importantly bug and security fixes, which is crucial regarding password managers. As an example, the release notes mentions:

        Version 2024.3.1
        Released Apr 8, 2024 - 10.74 MB
        Works with firefox 91.0 and later, android 91.0 and later

        • Updates to passkey creation flows
        • Address potential XSS vulnerability in notification bar
        • Bug fixes and small improvements

        The "XSS vulnerability" fix is something I want to have.

        So do you recommend this issue as a feature request to upgrade the installable version from the Popular extension, or should this be close and I rely on the version from the addons website?

          LittleSpot I am not sure what the answer is, but I know we can not test every extension update.

              This is 100% outdated, the popular extensions provides an outdated Bitwarden extension. I know this because there is no EU Bitwarden instance listed on the Bitwarden extension login page which was added a very long time ago).

              This probably doesn't add much to the conversation but this really needs to be solved as it's a security risk.

                  I've installed the extension directly from firefox store and it's working normally.

                    No one is typing
