A GitHub project page with embedded SVG takes an extremely long time to load.

Website: https://github.com/facebookincubator/below

The website takes a long time to load, the page hangs. Navigating to sub-links is also slow. I had reported this Webkit bug a while ago: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=262192

Steps to reproduce: go to the above website.

This has been fixed on trunk and is in Safari TP since a few months. However, the fix is not in Orion yet. Desired behavior: the website should load instantly as it does in Safari TP.

I also noticed the webkit version has a huge difference between Orion (WebKit 618.1.2) and Safari (TP: WebKit 19619.1.5.5.2).

So I have two questions:

  1. How long until that bug fix makes into Orion? It was fixed in this commit: https://commits.webkit.org/270110@main.
  2. A more general question: how often does Orion sync its Webkit version with the upstream (if at all)? Webkit gets a ton of security and bug fixes, do they make into Orion regularly?

Version 0.99.126.4.1-beta (WebKit 618.1.2)

Vlad Thanks for the reply! Would you be able to tell which WebKit version is the RC on?

pewpewpewpew Latest RC shows WebKit 619.1.1 (which I assume means WebKit as of early January). I believe Vlad and team also fix bugs relative to the WebKit snapshots they pull.

Vlad what is the Release Cycle in General? The latest Beta is now almost 3 Months "old". In the Past the Cycles weren't so long.

I have almost the same question as @pewpewpewpew have, not for this explicit bug - only in general for using this awesome browser!

bzgnyc Ah okay, the preceding 19 in Safari's Webkit version threw me off. I guess when Safari says: 19619.1.5.5.2, it would be 619.1.5 for Orion.

sash Agree with @sash. I believe the community would appreciate a little more insight into release cycles.

Thanks for answering the questions, love the browser!
