In every browser that i used, when middle click on youtube on the video snippet opens it new tab. But in Safari and Orion, it opens in new tab, only when middle clicking on the text under the video snippet. Would be nice if in Orion that will work as in any another browser - middle click on video snippet -> new tab.

Thanks.

Cheers
Denis

unbrokendub It does work like another browser - Safari, which is the reference browser on macOS, built by the operating system manufacturer 🙂

Vlad but aren't we aiming to make the experience better than safari?🙂 This always irritates me after years of using other browsers.

Haarolean We are (but I do not agree that Chrome or Firefox are better than Safari or something to strive for)

Vlad Absolutely! But from the UX perspective, clicking on the element you're aiming to open in a new tab sounds better, rather than always keeping in mind that doing so won't work if clicked on a thumbnail rather than a title, that's counterintuitive imo.

This seems somewhat related to the issue of middle click opening tabs in a different order compared to Right Click->Open Link in New Tab: https://orionfeedback.org/d/1782-right-click-open-link-in-new-tab-vs-middle-click-open-multiple-tabs-in-different-order

I would imagine that 99% of users expect middle click to behave identically to Right Click->Open Link in New Tab (I can't really see any justifcation why you'd want any other behaviour), so perhaps either the behaviour of both could be aligned, or an option could be added to the settings for this.

              +1

This behavior is especially weird seeing as middle-click opens links in a new tab for every other website besides Youtube.

Did anyone try submitting this to webkit.org as I think is likely source of this behavior?
