"Now Playing" stays in menu bar even when video has closed
Experiencing the same issue, would be a nice addition to have this resolved
Now playing even shows on private windows, which is much a bigger problem
Do we have any updates on this @Vlad ?
Here is what it looks like for me. No other tabs/videos are present. All is closed but a single empty tab.
Version 0.99.125-beta (WebKit 616.1.22):
Only way to remove this is to fully quit the browser. Safari, Chrome, Firefox does not act like this. Once the tab that has the media is closed, the media in the "Now Playing" menu also closes/disappears.
The setting affected in macOS System Settings (Sonoma 14.0):

are you still able to reproduce this? I wasn't able to get the Now Playing to remain after closing the media (tested videos on this forum and YouTube)
Version 0.99.129.1.1-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)
Build date Nov 7 2024
MacBook Air (macOS Sequoia 15.1 build 24B83)

I still have this issue. Is the fix only in RC?
I opened this video last night, and I do not still have the tab open.
Steps:
If any Orion window is open, quit it.
Open a new Orion window.
Go to any site that plays media (YouTube, for example)
Start playing media
Close tab
Red6785
Those steps alone do not lead to the media remaining in the control center on neither -beta nor -rc builds for me.
I tested the following combinations:
- closing the tab when the video is playing
- closing the tab when the video is paused
- closing the tab when the video is playing and I have another tab active
- closing the tab when the video is paused and I have another tab active
- closing the tab when picture-in-picture is enabled and the video is playing
- closing the tab when picture-in-picture is enabled and the video is paused
- Edited
Updated steps:
If any Orion window is open, quit it.
Open a new Orion window.
Go to any site that plays media (YouTube, for example)
Start playing media
Open a new tab
Return to the tab playing media
Close tab playing media
Try it with this? That seems to guarantee that it occurs for me on a clean profile on Orion 0.99.130.2-beta, for me.

I would say that, yes, this bug seemed to have made it way back in. It was never properly fixed though. It just happened to get fixed by itself one day.
Not sure why or how it's back though.
