My issue was occurring using OrionRC. However the latest RC, which was evidently just released the other day, seems to have remedied it.
Proton Pass Mozilla Firefox Extension
I'm on Version 0.99.125.6-rc (WebKit 618.1.1) Build date Oct 13 2023, and the extension is working for me.
Tried both Firefox and Chrome, none working for me.
Version 0.99.125-beta (WebKit 616.1.22)
Firefox extension works for me in .126!

Firefox extension 1.9.1 doesn't work with Orion RC 0.99.126.4.1-rc. When asked to sign into my Proton account, I just get an error screen that states "Oops. something went wrong".
Using the Chrome extension allows me to log in, but there doesn't appear to be any way to allow the password info to be populated. There is no Proton Pass button in the credential fields.
Confirming above that the latest extension version seems to be broken. I was trying to migrate back from Orion RC to the regular channel, but inadvertently installed ProtonPass 1.9.1. I got the same error, and now get that error even when trying to install an older version of the extension. For the time being, I'm "marooned" on my RC installation with ProtonPass 1.8.3.
I'm on Version 0.99.126.4.1-rc and uninstalling and reinstalling the Proton Pass Extension from the Chrome store resolved the problem.
Just to tag on, I'm on Version 0.99.126.4.1.1-rc (WebKit 618.1.7) and still having issues with autofill. I've tried both Chrome and Firefox. I get get the extension running but cannot use autofill or open settings for the extension.

Step to reproduce
Firefox extension
- Install Proton Pass "Firefox" extension
- Open the extension, try to login
- Boom! Proton website said "Oops, something went wrong" instead of sucessful login to extension
Chrome extension
- Install Proton Pass "Chrome" extension
- Open the extension, try to login
- Login success, extension seems to be working
- Go to the settings menu on the extension
- Boom! Setting page is broken
Expectation
Firefox extension
- Can login to the extension sucessfully
Chrome extension
- Can use the settings page
Software details
Orion: 0.99.126.4.1-beta (WebKit 618.1.2)
macOS: Sonoma (14)
Same issue here, the Firefox extension just don't work anymore and the Chrome extension cannot autofill, also settings page is unresponsive.
I'd like to see this extensions working also. Neither Firefox or Chrome ones work at the moment. Firefox can't log in and Chrome logs in, but auto-fill doesn't work.

As of this posting, the Proton Pass add-on extension from Firefox doesn’t work at all. After installing the extension and successfully logging into Proton, the error, ‘Oops, something went wrong. An error occurred while communicating with the extension.”
The Proton Pass extension from the Chome store does work but can't bring up the settings. Clicking the settings results in a graphic of a lock that can’t be interacted with. Without settings, can’t import, export, set autofill options, or add security PIN code.
Version 0.99.126.4.1.10-rc (WebKit 619.1.1)
Build date Mar 8 2024
This is what is keeping me from adopting Orion as well.
+1 for Proton Extensions both Proton Pass and Proton VPN. Appreciate all the hard work on this browser. I continue to try and have this be my "daily driver" as much as possible!

Same problem here ... with Firefox extension or Chrome extension.
It would be a real shame not to be able to use ProtonPass with Orion, especially as ProtonPass is now so effective.
This happens whenever selecting ProtonPass from the key drop-down menu in the password input field. When I click on the add-on icon next to the address bar, it opens up fine and shows that I'm logged in

Not working for me:
Tried it twice. Got the error each time:
If I edit the URL in the error page to remove the 'auth-ext', the page loads and I am logged in. I just downloaded/installed/updated the RC version, and had not logged into the proton.me account except via the ProtonPass extension, so it appears as if the extension is able to correctly authenticate me with proton, but fails somehow after that.
