safari changes the status bar color to match the background of the website:
some examples:

  • Safari colors the status bar area by detecting a website’s theme color provided in the site’s metadata. Orion should do the same.

In Safari, this feature is optional and called “Allow Website Tinting.” A toggle could be added under Settings > Appearance.

This suggestion is for mobile only, because a similar one has already been made for desktop.

Simple suggestion. Mimic how safari on iOS ‘follows’ the header colour of the website. Most of the time Orion defaults to grey or just darkened transparency.

Steps to reproduce - just visit sites with coloured headers. i.e. BBC or John Lewis below.

      Orion - Grey 'status bar'

      Safari - Red 'status bar'

      Orion - Grey 'status bar'

      Safari - White 'status bar'

Adding supporting screenshots. The first is of Orion the second is of Safari in both Light and Dark mode. You can see that Orion has a gray colored status bar while in Safari the status bar basically disappears by matching the color of the background content.

FWIW I think the color for the Safari dark mode URL bar also looks better.
