Vlad Would work for everyone interested?

    Looks good to me!

Tinholoco Please comment on the suggestion I posted above your post.

It is not clear what you call a workspace. In Orion context Workspace is a collection of open windows and you can even save/restore this as a snapshot.

Vlad I mean the windows system is almost like a workspace in Opera, SigmaOS or Arc but misses some features like the possibility to have a specific profile for every saved window and to open specific links/domains in one of them.

Vlad This is a lot like how Firefox containers work. I think theirs might be based on regex though. The benefit of using regex instead of just subdomains is in cases where an app will use a generic subdomain but put the "profile" of the saas app in the domain i.e. https://app.saas.company/company1 or even as a query string https://app.saas.company?profile=company1

I'd also like to push to have this be thought about with the upcoming sessions (i believe that is what they are being called) Allowing closer comparison of running Firefox Containers inside a Profile.

Scenario: I want to always be logged into my google account on mail.google.com but not on youtube.com. Currently, this means that I have to manually switch profiles before opening gmail and then switch back to my default profile when I'm done. It would be cool if I could instead choose a profile in the website settings for mail.google.com and gmail is then always opened in this profile (or even just in the context of this profile).

Vlad yes perfect! this is exactly what I was thinking 👍

cyzyvos This is part of my use case as well. Google is Orwellian with its insistence on signing you in automatically and without consent across all Google services when you sign in with any Google services, and I've not found a way to prevent this without breaking the login altogether. I have a few Google accounts for mail, one for Workspace, one for YouTube, etc. Having a container/profile/etc which enacts automatically when entering the defined subdomain is what makes FF containers work for me.

Vlad I am a fan of this implementation and would consider this an incredibly useful feature.

Vlad I think this might be confusing for Orion's current implementation of profiles. Everything is separate, including website settings, so it'll be weird for there to be a global option tucked in there as well.

Instead, I would suggest that instead of a dropdown, that option in website settings opens this window (the only page in Orion that affects all profiles). The routing options should be put there instead.

Yes and I think we can call it 'Link routing'. My only concern is discoverability if we were to place this button here, almost guranteed that a fraction of users would ever find it. So probably a reference here would be needed as well

Arc has a feature called Air Traffic Control, which automatically opens links in the right space according to some predefined rules.

It's not a perfect implementation (I have filed issues to enable links to be rearranged in order of priority, and to enable more advanced matching such as regex patterns) but it'll be a good start.

For example, while I am in the "Office" profile, under the "Dev work" named window, I can click on YouTube links I come across during the day and they'll still go to the "Personal" profile, under the "Entertainment" named window so that they don't interrupt my flow and I can go to my entertainment window at the end of the day and have some content lined up to see.

This also works to sort my work tabs. When I click on GitHub notifications for my work repo, it opens a tab in the "Office" profile/"Dev work" window and when I click on notifications for my personal repo, it opens a tab in my "Personal" profile/"Dev work" window.

I wanted to share an idea that I think could really enhance the Orion browser experience. I’ve noticed that Microsoft Edge has a feature where different profiles can be linked to specific URL addresses, allowing for automatic profile switching.

                          https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2020/04/30/automatic-profile-switching/
                          https://www.downloadsource.net/how-to-configure-microsoft-edge-to-switch-user-profiles-automatically/n/17380/

Implementing such a feature in the Orion browser could provide users with greater flexibility and efficiency, allowing them to seamlessly switch profiles based on the URLs they visit. It would be great to see this idea considered by the development team, as it aligns with enhancing user privacy and organization.

Do you think it would be possible to implement something similar in the Orion browser? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!

                          Best regards,
                          Yuriy
