UPDATE

Not only wizzair.com has this problem, but also browser bench.org (see picture below).

Steps to reproduce:
As shown in the image below, wizzair.com and browserbench.org are automatically added to content blockers setting to OFF. I've never visited those sites, nor added them manually in the settings. If I delete them, close the browser, then reopen it, they will come back automatically.
I had the same issue at least with the two previous version of Orion.

Expected behavior:
wizzair.com and browserbench.org content blockers setting OFF not to be present.

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Version 0.99.123.1-beta (WebKit 615.1.16.1)
MacBook Air M1, macOS Ventura 13.1 (build 22C65)

    charlyt1d Correct, we ship with these defaults.

    so adding @Longely to discussion.

    Basically some sites break with default content blocker.

    We tried many things to solve this problem. One is to ship Orion with a list of sites to disable content blocker by default. This is not ideal, scales poorly and produces confusion as in this case. But is a way.

    browserbench.org exclusion is for people benchmarking Orion, as content blocker is not needed to run the benchmark.

        I agree shipping Orion with a list of sites isnt ideal. as i said in the other post. I also dont think just using Compatibility Mode on websites where it breaks is ideal either (if you know how) since it leaves you with no protection. That should kinda be last resort imo

        Can you shred some light on what it is that Orions Blocker blocks that others dont?
        Since theese websites break in Orion but not other browsers that has blocker extensions.

        Or what is different in Orion?

            I'd prefer there be no default list.

            I've used Brave, LibreWolf, and a half dozen other browsers whose built-in protections sometimes cause sites to break for weird reasons; it's very common. It might discourage people coming from vanilla Chrome/Firefox/Edge/Safari installs where there are almost no default protections, but that's one of the many reasons I like Orion.

            Toggling compatibility mode is already pretty easy IMO as its only two clicks.

            I went one step further and added a programmable button to do this in a single click; you could go even further and actually set up a keyboard shortcut for it but I'm lazy.

              Longely Nothing special there are just many rules from various lists, over 700,000 of them so tweaking them individually is simply not viable. Every ad blocking list will break some sites, it is just a matter of how aggressive we want to be by default.

                  Im not against protection. quite the opposite.

                  But keep in mind every website i have to use Compatibility mode on. I will not have protection on, which i dont think is good from a protection stand point.

                  Hence why I was asking what specifically is technically different with Orions blocker that does this happens more often then other Browsers with blockers.

                      It also shows ads on Google.com and Youtube.com (by default) which is 90% of ads people would see. We are much more determined in blocking ads everywhere.

                            Perhaps there could be a few different "levels" of compatibility mode. Instead of all protection or no protection, maybe a few different tiers or advanced customization options similar to how Brave and Firefox do it?

                                Yep i was thinking something similar. But havent formulated in my head exactly what would make sense.. Since i dunno if I think it should be a general setting like in Brave or Firefox, it should only be a fall back thing for when sites break IMO, so it doesnt leave you completly unprotected in Compatibility Mode

                                    Easilly verifiable. Entire above the fold on Google is ads with Brave's "Block trackers and ads" ON. It is easy to claim you are blocking ads and trackers but then be mild about it (similar to claiming to be privacy respecting but then have a ton of telemetry on by default). We approach these matters much more seriously I have to say.

                                      When a site doesn't work I usually don't set straight on the Compatibility Mode, but I toggle off the individual voices (enable content blockers, enable intelligent tracking prevention, enable javascript, ... into the Website Setting on top bar) until I can get it to work with the maximum protection possible for that specific website. It's a tedious way, but it requires few clicks and maybe a minute to sort it out.

                                      Related to this there's a strange UI interaction: you are allowed to remove these exceptions in the preferences window, but when you relaunch Orion those exceptions are back in. They also don't look any different from regular exceptions. The UI could make it clearer that those exceptions come from built in settings that cannot be changed, and are not something I have set myself.

                                        uri-canva We'd prefer to remove the exceptions all together. I guess the purpose of this thread is to discuss how to best address this issues moving forward.

                                          I just came across this as a new user and found it odd. I initally wondered if it was siome sort of kickback / affiliate program that Orion was getting from wizzair.com. Or if it was some imported list from Chrome.

                                          I'd recommend shipping with no default list, or at least linking to a blog post in the settings what the default list is and why it ships with it. Without a clear explanation, it seemed a little sketchy.
