I think Orion should let users change where the new tab appears, next to current tab or last tab.
I know mobile version already has this feature, hoping desktop version could get it too!

Vlad I mean if there are multiple tabs at the same time, I can long press the "plus" icon to ”Add new tab next to Current" and I hope the desktop version could have this setting in the Preferences.

huleefox So it is not a setting but you want a long press + option. But that is already reserved for recently closed tabs on desktop. So you have to be specfic what the ask is.

Vlad I think this is all about personal preference so it should be a setting. I mentioned the mobile version Orion since I thought it's a setting but it's actually not.

huleefox Ok we can have an option "Open new tab next to current tab" in Settings -> browsings under Tabs section (default off)

Second this! I was wondering whether this was an intentional change since the latest release.

In that case I just haven't really noticed it/paying attention or I was too used to Chrome's behavior since I switch browsers fairly frequently. But yeah, an option to change the behavior is welcome for sure.

Add a new tab from the plus icon or via Command T

              Expected behavior:
              <What you expected to happen?>
Added next to the active tab

I just discovered that the following is possible (for anyone who finds it very inconvenient to move tabs around after every Cmd+T while waiting for the next release):

                  1. In current tab, select address bar contents (e.g., by hitting Cmd+L)
                  2. Type search or URL where you want the new tab to go
                  3. Press Cmd+Enter
(At this point, in background, a new tab will open as a first child of the current tab)
                  4. Press Esc
(At this point, current tab’s address bar will reset back to its address)
                  5. Press Cmd+Shift+] to switch to the newly opened tab

                  Takes 2–3 seconds.

As a bonus, since in this case the new tab is opened in background (I hope this behavior doesn‘t change), it makes it very quick to spawn many tabs as children to the current tab one after another (useful during research): just don’t do step 4 and 5 above, and instead repeat steps 1 to 3 however many times needed.
