Hello, I have been experiencing a bug after 1 day of using Orion. For some reason, whenever I use a crypto trading platform, watch a video, especially when I am on shopify working on my store where it seems really sluggish, Orion seems to be using a lot of my CPU. I am also using Microsoft Edge and it barely consumes anything but Orion does use over 100% of my CPU in those cases. Even with one tab only opened and no other apps in the background. The laptop get's really warm pretty quickly. Hopefully this can be solved on the next iteration of the beta build.

    Hey everyone

I merged a bunch of 'high CPU usage' posts into this one thread. We would like to get to the bottom of this.

If you are posting about perceived high CPU usage in Orion please follow this procedure to make it useful for us:

    • Start a new clean Orion profile
    • Note exact steps to reproduce perceived high CPU usage
    • Repeat those same steps in Safari

If Orion usage is significantly more than Safari's, post the details here. A video documenting all steps and your methodology would be fantastic.

    Thanks!

Probably a WebKit related issues, lets monitor in the next update of WebKit

LaurentiuManiliuc In the future please provide steps to reproduce the issue.

Hi, I have the same issue on the Air BNB website, wherever I am on the website, I get over 100% CPU usage with high performance core usage and temps in the 70's, scrolling (especially the listings pictures) become pretty laggy. I tried several times and always get the same result. As soon as I close the page the CPU usage goes back to normal.
      I'm on a M1 MBA on MacOS 12.5.1 with Orion 0.99.119-beta (WebKit 615.1.1)

valochelb Always try to post steps to reproduce as otherwsie there is nothing we can do about it.

          Vlad 1. Open Orion

          1. Open Shopify Tab
          2. Use it for a minute or two
          3. Activity monitor will display high CPU usage

Vlad Understood, because the issue stemmed from simply going on airbnb.com and nothing more I didn't think I needed to give more details but will do next time, the issue has been resolved with the last update.
Thanks for your work have a good day

Vlad I don't know any other website with this behaviour. Could you suggest a resource intensive one?

Vlad It has a similar behaviour if you use PrimeXBT which is a crypto trading website. Specifically, in the trade tab with the charts, that seems to make it react close to what I've showcased earlier.

Vlad It's very obvious, there are a few buttons at the top and it says "Trade", you click it. 🙃

Not sure what the service is but apparaently I can't create an account.

Vlad It's obvious, I am here to report a bug of the browser, not to make tutorials of creating accounts on website or how to do 2 clicks. I know you need specific steps for diagnose but it's clear if what I am stating is actually put into action.

LaurentiuManiliuc "Steps to reproduce" are called that way for a reason. I appreciate what you are trying to do and hopefully you can appreciate us trying to structure this in a way that allows fastest addressing of issues. We have over 1,500 open reported issues and nothing is 'obvious'. If an issue takes more than a minute to reproduce it will likely not going to be looked any time soon as there are many other readilly reproducible for us to be looking into.
