cleandeal07 When a feature is implemented, the status will change to Done. We ar eplanning a large overhaul of PDF viewer which is why is this taking more time.

Vlad Would you be able to share the timeline of when this might be release? I appreciate all your help and work you're putting in this.

Merged 2 posts from Search Function on pdfs is broken.

Currently, the built-in PDF viewer lacks a few key features, in addition to the already-reported missing find functionality (https://orionfeedback.org/d/278-cant-search-text-on-pdf-files)

                The Firefox one:

                And the overspill menu:

From a minimum viable perspective, I think main feature for me is page counter (to find a given page, or navigate to a page someone refers me to), the download button, and rotation buttons.

"Open with Preview" is good to have in the context menu, but I'd also suggest a right-click context menu option for "Download file as..."

gp Can you compare it to the one in Safari to make sure we at least have parity with that?

Having tested Orion and Safari, you're matching Safari with feature-parity for now.

I didn't spot that there is a "pop-over" overlay with a couple of options:

(Both Orion and Safari have this)

It gives you zoom in and out, "open in Preview", and download as a PDF. If you want to be pedantic, the download button should honour the user's preference for storage location vs. "Ask me for each download" for where to save the download - I have that set, but it just defaulted to Downloads.

gp Thanks for doing that. For the most part we are still catching up to feature parity with the OS manufacturer's reference browser (Safari), and only when we have that we can think of going above and beyond on auxiliary, non-trivial features like this.

                      Steps to reproduce:
Clicking the "Download" button on a PDF does nothing

                      Expected behavior:
PDF downloads to user chosen directory

                      Orion, OS version; hardware type:
                      Version 0.99.109.1.3-beta (WebKit 613.1.12), MacOS 12.1

s2e3440z It would be nice to have at least an URL for steps to reproduce.

gp Wow, my bad. You're right, it is downloading to Downloads but gave no indication that it was downloaded successfully and doesn't honour the user preferences for "ask every time".

Merged 5 posts from PDF viewer download button does nothing.

gp This is because it is using the native webkit pdf reader.
