Tab group management - order of the groups in the menu

Note that Orion has the option of Vertical tabs which Safari doesn't. Not sure how to marry the two efficiently.

The window switcher (found on top-left of Orion toolbar) is a great way to switch contexts. I personally use one window for "personal" unordered stuff, and then one window per project.

An important missing feature for me is being able to reorder windows here:

and here:

I want to be able to always have the personal window on top of the list (accessible by Cmd-Opt-1). This is a case in screenshots above, but only by accident :-)

This is actually how it should work by default. When you select another window, the previous one should be closed. If someone wants not to close the previous window, they should choose an option "open window" or sth like that. However, by default it should work like Safari Tab Groups. I don't need to have 5 windows open at the same time. It's unproductive. Even if I wanted, I would open them manually. I need a quick solution.

Maciek - in the defense of the development team, managing priorities is one of the hardest parts of creating any product (especially as complex as web browser). I'd even go as far as saying that the skill of saying No (or at least, Maybe Later), despite what we (users who request features) want, is the most important skill of a great product manager.

vladstudio But the point is that you even didn't say NO. The thing I hate about developers is that they always think they know best. They judge the idea only by themselves, not asking anybody else for their opinion. That's just rude, cause you're not the smartest, guys. You're not end users. Create apps for users, not for developers or designers.

Hey! @Vlad, I'd ilke to dig out this old topic - the ability to manually reorder tab groups seems more and more important as I use Orion: I can live without it, but I'm constantly annoyed by seeing my groups in unexpected order :-)

After thinking about actual UX/UI, I think it's best to re-work the entire Switcher. Right now it looks like this, simple standard menu with submenus:

vladstudio Thanks for thinking it through.

The only issue I see with this approach is that it uses non-native components and we are building Orion as a macOS native app.

So we would need to find a way/pattern for this in HIG. We could in theory enable drag and drop inside the popup menu although I have never seen that done before and am not sure it would be discoverable.
