Steps to reproduce:
In a pinned tab (ie. webmail), hold down Cmd and left-click a link in an email, observe that the new tab is created at the end of the tab bar
In the pinned tab from before, middle-click with a mouse on a link, observe that the new tab is created at the start of the tab bar

Expected behavior:
The behaviour should be the same for both methods of opening a link in a new tab (though I'd prefer if they open at the very end of the tab bar, rather than the start)

I took a screen recording (filesize was below 20MB) but attempting to attach it to this issue yields the message "Oops! Something went wrong. Please reload the page and try again." - reloading the page did not help, and the backend replied with this JSON:
{"errors":[{"status":"500","code":"unknown"}]}

I'll try to attach it to the comments of this issue or something

    I couldn't get the file to attach in the end, so I uploaded it to a bucket on digitalocean:

      Reproduced partially.

      With "when a new tab opens, make it active" disabled:

      • Cmd click > opens new tab at end of tab bar
      • Right click > opens new tab just after pinned tabs
      • Middle click > I don't have a mouse but I have a binding in better touch tool for middle click, for me this opens a new tab just after pinned tabs, but doesn't make the tab active, unlike @Maff 's video

      With that setting enabled, I get the same behaviour as above in terms of where the new tab appears, but it makes the new tab active in all cases.

        It actually seems a bit inconsistent as to whether or not middle-click will make the new tab active. I'm not sure what conditions are different between my normal browser window where I discovered this bug, and the second window that I recorded the video using, so I think that behaviour may be unrelated.

          We should make it consistent. Showing after pinned tabs (at the beginning of tabs) is what Safari does and it makes sense also (as it is "at the end of pinned tabs"
