Tab overflow button and minimum tab width
Currently I do workaround like you mentioned.
IMO it is better to have both the favicon and bit of title when at minimum width.
Safari and Chrome reduce tabs to favicon size (so does Orion). Firefox does not.
Orion offers several mechanisms for this situation:
- address bar will actually locate open tabs (unlike chrome which prioritises search)
- tab previews help identify tab
- you can disable favicons and then you get text
I feel it is enough of options given that many users prefer smaller tab size to fit more on the screen.

Fair enough. I am biased towards the Firefox way after 18 years of using it This can be looked at a later stage after a full stable release.
Thanks for considering.
I was going to make a post requesting this myself. I am one of those people with 50+ tabs open per window for research. If the same site is opened in multiple tabs, the tabs showing only the fav icon makes it difficult to figure out which tab is which.
GumbyXGames Can you post a screenshot of the ideal solution?
GumbyXGames Thanks. How would you call this option and where would you place it?
I think it should go under Appearance in Preferences. I think the best way to implement it is to allow the user to set the minimum length/size for tab width.
GumbyXGames We need a concrete suggestion
Then take that as a concrete suggestion:
There should be an option for minimum tab width under Appearance in the Preferences menu.
GumbyXGames Again, do not make us think:
- What is the name of the option?
- What are the avaialble settings?
- What is the default value?
- Where is the option positioned
- Edited
- What is the name of the option? - Minimum Tab Length (Pixels)
- What are the available settings? - Text field
- What is the default value? - 80 pixels
- Where is the option positioned? - Preferences -> Appearance
Firefox Advanced Preference: browser.tabs.tabMinWidth
Thanks a lot for implementing this feature, it is a massive improvement (coming from FF specially) in terms of Orion usability for me.
