MacOS Tahoe - Title bar and Tab bar become transparent with multiple tabs

When a new tab opens in the background, the control bar, tab, and bookmark bars appear completely transparent, making them unusable. This only occurs when the page loads in the background; if Orion is set to switch to new tabs as they open, or if you reload the tab, the page loads correctly.

Expected control bar, tab, and bookmark to remain solid, as they do when an active tab loads.

Same here. Also resolved when toggling display Show Bookmarks Bar and Hide Bookmarks Bar.

+1 same here. Will have to try the tricks for resolving it—I've been reloading pages which is not ideal.

On 26.1 RC it overspills into toolbar as well, but only when System Settings -> Appearance -> Liquid Glass is set to "Tinted". This setting does not exist in 26.0.1 and it "defaults" to "Clear". When I set it back to Clear, overspilling to toolbar ended.

^ Looks like I spoke too soon. This was fixed for macOS 26.0.1, however something changed in how macOS 26.1 handles colors, and it caused this issue to re-appear for macOS 26.1.

Every time I open a bookmark by right-clicking on it and selecting "Open in New Tab", the toolbar becomes transparent and overlaps the webpage. This only happens for a second before it goes back to normal. It is not a functional issue, but it is an aesthetic bug, it seems to me.

I expected it to act the same way as it would if I just searched with the search bar - that the toolbar stays up there without interfering with the website.

Top part of page is randomly cut off. Refreshing page or doing something else on the UI fixes it but I need to do it to resolve the issue. Very annoying.
Doesn't matter what website. See on the right part of the screenshot that the scroll bar is all the way to the top. Scrolling down and then up does not fix it.
Happens most often on opening a link with a new tab.

Top part of the page should not be cut off.

Potentially related to #12300 or #12249. I'd expect to see this one fixed in the next release.

On the latest version, even on compatibility mode, this issue seems to continually happen where the url is the same color as the background (black or white). Additionally, changing the theme to dark or light mode in the settings seemingly does nothing now. Finally, this is occurring at seemingly random times.

I do not know how to replicate this, and it does not at all happen on Safari.

Ideally things would be readable and the settings would impact things.

Hey @russell Thanks for reporting this. We are already aware of this issue and are working on a fix. This issue happens when you start Orion when the system is in light mode and then change the system theme to dark.

I have been running into this since the liquid glass changes. I have never changed my system settings, it has always been dark mode.

@guardiangate4110 @joe_blondie You are both correct actually. This doesn't have to do with changing the system theme, and happens even without changing the theme. Upon further investigation, we found that this is happening as a result of some internal macOS changes with how colors are handled in Tahoe's 26.1 update. (This bug with the exact same Orion code was not happening on macOS 26.0.1)

We have found a fix for this, but we're still testing the edge cases. Having said that, the fix for this should ideally (again, no promises, want to test that all edge cases are covered) be out on next monday for RC and then roll in to the dev release after that.

akshatpatel Wow, thank you so much for the responsiveness! The page still gets cut off for me when I open bookmark on another tab, so I will reply back if it still happens with the next update!
