I have a very similar problem, likely related - My post from Discord:

Running M1 Macbook Air, Ventura latest public release, orion 0.99.123.3-beta which has been reset to default, settings and cookies erased. I have extensions of Bitwarden and uBlock. I have disabled uBlock. I cannot log into Hulu or ESPN+ using Bitwarden or by typing my information in. I get an incorrect password notice.

Removed all extensions, erased cookies, and logged in by typing information and it worked. Cleared cookies again. I reinstalled Bitwarden. I was able to type in my information for hulu and log in. I then unlocked bitwarden and went to espn+ and tried the autofill, that gave me the password error. After a failed autofill I cannot type in my information and have it succeed. Exiting Orion and returning to espn+ and typing my information allowed me to log in. It appears the bitwarden autofill on some sites is causing an error.

    Hi @dino

Currently I'm using Version 0.99.125-beta (WebKit 616.1.22) and it is not working. Sometimes, it works after using cmd+opt+shift+L. I've checked the behaviour with both chrome and firefox extensions. Please, let me know if you need further information (I'm using macOS 13.6).

Same here - Version 0.99.125-beta (WebKit 616.1.22) on Sonoma macOS 14.0

        a month later

Running 0.99.126.1-beta I'm also experening this issue, whats weird is it will work, stop working for a site, and then any subsequient sites as well.

Sometimes if I refresh the page or refresh the plugin it works again briefly then stops working again. I expercing the same issue with firefox or chrome plugin

Cna someone provide exact steps for us to reproduce any Bitwarden autofill issue including test credentials we can use. And please use latest Orion version as we did fix things incrementally)

            Dear Vlad,

Thanks for considering this issue more deeply. The behaviour with autofill has been improving slightly with each new version of orion+ (things are being polished) but I think that the problem, unfortunately is not straightforward.

            First, I'm using:

            Version 0.99.126.2-rc (WebKit 618.1.2)
            Build date Nov 10 2023
MacBook Pro (macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 build 23B81)
            Only bitwarden extension

            Second:
I'm experiencing a better behaviour if the auto-fill option is configured with the setting "Regular Expression". This improves the auto-fill results, but in some ocassions, auto-fill does not work properly.

I having trying to find a regular faulty behaviour but it is not easy. Things that I have figured out:

Usually, first time that I visit a webpage from a browser clean install or in an new machine, it is required to accept or reject cookies. If this happens, bitwarden in orion does not work properly. It is required a reload of the page after accepting cookies to make auto-fill work as expectected. I have tested it with just a Facebook account.

Moreover, webpages that have a login screen that appears over the main webpage have high probability to not be auto-filled. Indeed, it is quite easy to test, it happens with https://orionfeedback.org/ or https://foro.adslzone.net

My feeling about the problem is some faulty trigger to reload the webpage or reload some certain information that bitwarden requires after some interaction with a webpage to make auto-fill function work properly.

@Vlad I'm not very sure what you mean test credentials. Do you want that we create an account in certain websites where problems exists to later make orion team to perform tests? In such case, via private message?

            • Vlad replied to this.

Chai Can you provide actual steps to reproduce from a new clean orion profile

              1.
              2.
              3.
              4.

                With https://orionfeedback.org/ is extremly easy:

                1. Install last orion+ from scratch (any previous file related file removed via applceaner or similar)
                2. Install bitwarden extension (the recommended one by orion)
                3. Log in bitwarden account with the credentials of the webpages that would be used as test
                4. Configure bitwarden with auto-fill option
                5. Go to https://orionfeedback.org/
                6. Click on log in (a foreground window integrated on webpages appears)
                7. The credentials are never auto-filled

                In the case of facebook:

                1. Go to https://www.facebook.com
                2. Click on accept or reject cookies
                3. The credentials are not auto-filled (if you reload the webpage, after acepting or rejecting the cookies, most of times credentials are auto-filled but sometimes the bejaviour is not as expected)

Hi, last update seems to work better. I have noticed that orionfeedack.org gets auto-fill from bitwarden but it is extremly slow, it takes so long time that it seems not working. The test is the same posted previously.

Although the extension behaves better in new releases, there situations (I cannot determine the conditions) in which is fails and it is seems a common issue to other extensions

The Chrome and Firefox extensions seem to be working correctly now with the latest Orion version (0.99.126.2-beta). However, it still renders in a way that makes most of the UI invisible. See screenshot, this is the Firefox extension but the same happens to the Chrome extension. Not sure if this something that can be fixed by the Orion devs or should be fixed by the developer of the extension.

Related to this one, it seems that this extension is not working as expected, but I'm not sure if this is related only to my machine or if this is a general issue. The issue I'm experiencing (apart from the above mentioned) is that when I search for entries in my Strongbox password DB, it doesn't find any entries even when it should find them. The same is true about the small box that shows up on a login form on the page. This box normally shows entries from my password DB that match the website url, but in Orion it is always empty. Looking at the website's (not the extension's) devtools, it seems that whenever the small box shows up, an error is added to the devtools console:

Failed to load resource: Nie można ukończyć tej operacji. (Błąd Orion.SchemeHandlerError 2.)
My browser language is polish, and so the translation of the above error is:
Failed to load resource: Can't finish this operation. (Error Orion.SchemeHandlerError 2.)

Hope this helps with some debugging 🙂

                          2 months later

This is still an issue in Version 0.99.126.4.1-beta (WebKit 618.1.2). I think it's actually a more generalized issue since it happens to other extensions sometimes as well, I've seen it happen to "cookie autodelete".

In addition it the Strongbox autofill popup is unreliable with both the chrome and firefox extensions. Sometimes it shows up immediately when clicking a login or password field. Sometimes it won't show up at all. Sometimes it appears once then fails to appear again if closed. This is especially common if the database is locked and you use the popup's prompt to unlock the database. Once the database is unlocked the popup should show again immediately with possible autofill entries but most of the time it does not and it's usually not possible to get it to show again (both firefox and chrome extensions).

I noticed this is tagged as "done" @Vlad could you please reopen it?
