  • Vlad Disabling that feature works around the issue, but it’s not a solution… I’m confused what you’re saying.

I’m not sure what you mean by “different than Safari”. Safari doesn’t have that feature as far as I’m aware?

    • @Vlad This behavior is still present as of 0.99.130.2-beta, which came out well after the Done tag was added. Did it get added back in at some point?

(I don't have RC installed on this computer yet to test it there, but I imagine it's the same, since this hasn't been touched in a while)

      • When I enter some text in the address bar, the favicons next to Top Hit and Suggestions are frequently incorrect.

In this screenshot, the Top Hit should have the Nvidia favicon, and everything under Suggestions should have a magnifying glass icon.

If I mouse over the listings, the favicons change to what they're supposed to be.

          1. Set Orion to Dark theme.
          2. Visit a website such as https://www.wikipedia.org
          3. Press Command-F.
          4. Scroll down the page slightly.

The white page shines through the Find bar, and makes it difficult to see the content.

          • On first launch of Orion, there's a popup:

Regardless of which button is selected, there's then the "Customize Orion" screen, which displays an unchecked box next to "Automatically keep Orion up to date".

Either the initial popup should be eliminated, or the checkbox on the Customize page should be removed.

At the very least, selecting the affirmative option on the popup should change the setting as directed.

            • Driazgo I found that all of my tabs from the first launch after updating were renamed to Untitled, but anything opened since then retains its correct title. Does this mirror your experience?

              • The duration seems correlated to number of tabs — I have about 800 tabs, and it takes Orion about 14 minutes to launch.

Problem originated when I was running Sonoma (after updating to 0.99.129-beta); I updated to Sequoia this weekend and the issue persists.

                  1. Tools > Install This Site as an App (I did this for https://herolab.online)
                  2. In the app, click on a login form.
                  3. I'm prompted to authenticate for every Web Form Password item in my login keychain:

If it's relevant, my main Orion browser is set to use a 3rd party provider for passwords, rather than the Orion/macOS keychain.

Either nothing should happen, or it should prompt for access to the one site's keychain item.

                  • Vlad Yes, though it requires quitting, not just closing the window.

                    • I've been experiencing this problem recently; has it returned?

                      • Steps to reproduce:

                        1. Open a popup from a website (using newWindow()).
                        2. Leaving the popup as the frontmost Orion window, open a link from another application.
                        3. The link opens in the extant popup, overriding the window's contents.

                        Expected behavior:
The link should open in the main window, not the popup.

                        Orion, OS version; hardware type:
                        Version 0.99.124.3-beta (WebKit 616.1.14.11.1)
MacBook Pro (macOS Ventura 13.2.1 build 22D68)

                        Image/Video:

(ignore the interstitial grey window after link click, Choosy is prompting for what browser to use)

                        • Is this a problem? It could be desired behavior for some users, e.g. for using various non-emoji unicode symbols or characters

                          • eirk I don’t think they want to disable the notifications from that tab, just that the notifications shouldn’t be allowed to make sound

                            • Vlad The primary request: holding “option” will invert new-tab location behavior from the setting in Orion preferences (ideally, for both the keyboard shortcut and the toolbar button).

Separately, remerson would also like the new tab toolbar button behavior to be handled independently, but I don’t have much of an opinion about that, so I’ll leave it to them if they’d like to clarify that request.

                              • drive.google.com
                              • docs.google.com
                              • sites.google.com
                              • www.google.com/maps/d/edit (when attempting to share a My Maps map via Drive)
                              • script.google.com
                              • colab.research.google.com

                              • (any other domains with Drive integration, possibly including third-party domains?)

In each case, it works if you disable content blockers, but this is a lot of domains to manually make exceptions for (especially if you have multiple profiles on multiple devices!)

                              • @Vlad TommyRot's issue is separate — this thread is about the Google Drive interface, not the Share button in the File menu.

                                • Ah, this is a duplicate of issue 4400, but I was misled because an unrelated thread got merged erroneously.

                                  • Steps to reproduce:

                                    1. Create a Saved Window if one does not already exist.
                                    2. Right-click the saved window (or select the (⋯) menu) and select Settings…
                                    3. Set the icon to any emoji.
                                    4. Click Save.

                                    The icon is not updated.

                                    Expected behavior:
The window should have the new emoji as its icon.

MacBook Pro (macOS Ventura 13.2.1 build 22D68)

                                    Image/Video:

                                    • RaviPatel For what it's worth, both Safari and Chromium use the same "Open Location…" terminology to focus the bar, and all Mac browsers I'm aware of use the same default keyboard shortcut. 🙂
                                      Glad I could help though!
