    • Vlad thanks, I’ve tried that. I’m curious about @ajgraves’s approach as it seems so require less space and fewer clicks.

By the looks of it, he got (or should’ve) the summary of his iPhone tabs by just clicking once on that button and hovering over the device name. Your approach, besides using a significantly larger button, requires three clicks: (1) click tab overview, (2) select Synced devices and (3) click on device name.

I know this might seem minor, but it’s an interaction I do so often that I’ll take any possible shortcut.

      • ajgraves macOS, showing what it believes to be the tabs that have synced from my iPhone:

How did you manage to get your iPhone tabs displayed through a single button? I've tried using a Programmable button but I can't find the Menu action to achieve this.

        • Is this feature working properly for people? My history still doesn't sync at all between devices (all Sync and iCloud permissions are enabled in both devices).

          • paul Orion Mac:

@Vlad where can we get the overview of the iPhone tabs in Compact tabs view (Desktop)? These tabs could be shown at the Start page or in the Tab overview just like in Safari. Should I make a suggestion for this if there isn't one already?

As someone new to Orion, I was thrilled to have found a browser that overall looks and feels like Safari while embracing the customisation and functionality we've been longing for. I'd argue all of us here were actively seeking an alternative browser that offered the Safari experience but on steroids.

While I understand the preferences of the Orion team, my impression is that these—justified and reasoned—creative liberties are stepping away from the Safari experience and start building its own. And that's fine, but I'm not so sure how well that's sitting with an Orion user base that's so fond of the native macOS visuals and functionality.

As this thread reflects, opinions are very polarised and there won't be a consensus given our different workflows. But there doesn't have to be; this is not necessarily an either-or situation. Hopefully in a near future, if time and resources allow for it, we'll see both options implemented peacefully. A part of what makes Orion so unique is its customisation.

In my humble opinion, I would've reversed the implementation order and started with Safari's—widely tested, already familiar and very much expected by most—compact tabs. With its pros and cons, but putting Safari first. This could've been a solid starting point for an Orion alternative, tweaked, tested and adapted for those with more particular needs.

This is the only one I found that didn’t have a Done status to it.

                1. The bookmark summary that appears when clicking the address bar only shows 12 bookmarks in a 2x6 grid. It doesn't allow rearranging or removing bookmarks directly either. This only occurs on Desktop, on Mobile it works just as it would on Safari.

                On Orion Desktop:

                On Safari Desktop:

It looks like the "Show Less"/"Show More" option is missing in Orion Desktop, while it's there on Mobile.

                1. This summary is also missing the overview of the current tabs open on Mobile that Safari has. I could only find iCloud tabs on Desktop when I played around with vertical tabs (and by accident). This could be more intuitively solved, Apple already does a great job conveniently placing these in the UI.

I noticed the browser's history doesn't sync either. The only thing that has synced properly in both Desktop and Mobile are my bookmarks so far.

                • All bookmarks should be displayed in the summary under the address bar, allowing rearranging and removal.
                • The summary should include an overview of the current open tabs on Mobile/Desktop the way Safari does.

                • These features are already available for iOS. The same level of protection can be achieved on macOS with TouchID.
