I'm probably talking out of my behind, forgive me.
But, thinking out loud...
Is it possible for orion team to simply bolt this feature on top of webkit?
Using the most recent 3-5 comments on https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160504
what i did was
sudo vim /etc/hosts
hardcode
127.0.0.1 enp.localhost # because /etc/hosts does not support wildcard
my belief is that orion should use builtincode for *.localhost to auto use 127.0.0.1 rather than use webkit's default, like the chromium browsers
I suspect it's probably due to this bug
https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160504
I have tested on safari and the same behavior occurs, so it's more of a webkit thing.
I prefer if orion makes a decision to be more like the chromium browsers in this case. Developers like me would love orion more.
I am a developer and i need to do localhost testing at times
On MSedge on my macOS ventura
This works as expected.
On Orion
this doesn't work
but when i change to 0.0.0.0:8000 it works again
Please fix this
Appreciate your response. I have used that workaround for another app, so I'm aware of this.
But when it occurred a 2nd time and with a highly prominent website like google calendar, then I decided to post here.
but, for whatever reason, Google Calendar refuses to have the proper icon.
Since ms edge can do it easily, i have to disagree with this line. It's not a google calendar issue.
Orion is an ambitious project and I like the ambition. So replicating a seemingly normal feature in MS edge should be within the scope of Orion. I want to encourage them to do so, hence the feedback here and the sponsorship.
sad
i wanted to donate to bump up this issue
but i cannot.what's another way i can do to raise this issue's priority?
also if i pay for orion+ will taht bump up my bug reports in terms of priority?
same issue

Version 0.99.126.4.1-beta (WebKit 618.1.2)
ventura 13.6 m1 chip
i compare with ms edge on macOS
when i do a install site as app for google calendar it doesn't capture the favicon
even though can clearly see it in tabcompare this with edge same feature
top folder "Edge Apps" is the folder containing all the PWA installed by Edge
bottom folder "WEb Apps" is the folder containing all the PWA installed by Orioni am on 13.6 (22G120) ventura
i expect the favicon to be correctly selected. i expect this feature to be on par with MS edge on macOS
Version 0.99.126.4.1-beta (WebKit 618.1.2)
