  • Using the Universal Summarizer from Kagi.com has a "Discuss Further" button at the end for further discussion.

It would be nice to have this button in Orion's native Kagi Summarizer (Right click -> Summarize Page window).

    • Mullvad has a firefox browser extension that is meant to be used along with Mullvad VPN.

Apart from displaying some basic information about the VPN connection, this extension in Firefox allows you to set VPN location for any website independently.

For eg, the macOS Mullvad client could be set to Stockholm. But with this extension, you get set Kagi.com's location to Berlin, and orionfeedback.org's location to Paris.

From what I understand, this is done through sock5 proxy settings. The extension remembers the set location for each domain, and automatically sets the location proxy for that tab whenever you visit that domain.

It works perfectly well on macOS Firefox.

On Orion, it can display basic VPN information just fine (less important), but setting domain specific location does not work at all. (this what I mainly care about)

      On Firefox:

      On Orion:

It also does not detect that uBlock is already installed. (not that important)

But setting proxy for the site doesn't actually do anything.

        • This is a good suggestion. It is especially important to users who are more aware about their online presence, and helps build confidence in the product.

While it is understandable the team might be hesistant to commit to an SLA at its current size, I would atleast hope and expect the team is subscribed to the WebKit security advisory page so they are aware when any vulnerabilities and fixes are published by WebKit, as this directly impacts their own product.

        • I've noticed if you just move the preview window a little, you can click on it again. Just drag and drop the preview window a bit.
Not sure if that is the same as "detaching it"?

Still needs a fix, but this is a decent workaround in the meantime.

          • Add an option so a user can easily open a tab in another Orion profile.

Currently, you can right click a tab to move it to a new window. Similarly, an option can be added to move the tab to another profile.
If possible, allow moving the tab to a specific window of another profile.

            This is useful in scenarios:

            • you might be logged into some websites in a profile, but your default profile might be a different one
            • you might want to move the tab into a different profile which is synced across devices (as I understand only one profile can be synced)
            • I noticed this too while on Twitter. The only solution was to close the tab and open again - but that also didn't work 100% of the time.

              • dino Thanks! This seems to help in my initial testing 👍

              • Dragging a tab into a collapsed list of tabs doesn't always show the newly dragged tab if the collapsed list covers the entire vertical space.

Better to show it in the video. I drag the Kagi Search tab into a collapsed list of 20+ tabs. When I open the collapsed list, I don't see the Kagi search tab. It only shows up when I click on the last tab in the list.

                Steps:

                1. Open 20+ tabs, collapse them in a list.
                2. Drag a new tab to the collapsed list
                3. Open the collapsed list and try to find your tab

I expect to see complete list of tabs.

                • I have Orion Keychain disabled, and even autofill password disabled in Mac password settings. I only use 1Password.

When logging into most websites, kagifeedback.org for example, I still see the keychain icon in the login field. This blocks 1Password from showing the autofill prompt

100% of the time, I just have to refresh the page, and the 1Password prompt appears. But it is an annoyance as most websites do not work with 1Password autofill prompt on the first try.

Safari for example, doesn't show the keychain icon at all with keychain password disabled, and I have a smooth experience using 1Password with Safari.

                  • In align with the privacy rich features of Orion browser, I would LOOOVE to see an auto delete cookie feature.

While browsing the web, you often visit websites you don't frequent - blogs, news websites, seo riddled junk etc. Most of which are notorious for including large amounts of first party and third party cookies.

Orion could natively support popular extensions like Cookie AutoDelete: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookie-autodelete/

When turned on, it will automatically deletes cookies of the websites you just visited, after a configurable <N> seconds, upon closing the tab.

The wait period of <N> seconds is to support the scenario where you might accidentally close a tab and want to go reopen the closed tab.

It will also support whitelisting domains for which cookies will be retained and not auto deleted. This is useful for websites you might frequent, and might want to stay logged in, for example. Whitelisting can be easily done from the website settings menu (gear icon near the address bar).

If possible, it should also differentiate between cookies for root domains and subdomains. For example, in the above extension you can selectively whitelist cookies either for *.google.com, or just for *.accounts.google.com. If you just want to use Gmail for example, you can get away with whitelisting only *.accounts.google.com, and don't have to whitelist the entire *.google.com space, which could include *.analytics.google.com as well, for example.

My current workaround is to disable cookies for all websites by default from the Website settings. And only selectively enable cookies from the gear icon for websites I want to enable cookies for.
The issue with this approach is that a lot of websites straightup refuse to function without cookies enabled. A lot of websites using the Cloudflare "verify you're a human", and you can't get past it without enabling cookies, sometimes it will only work in compatibility mode.
I could never get Gmail to work this way because of the numerous redirects they do while logging in - so now all Google stuff stays in a profile of it's own. 🙃

With this feature, the whole experience makes it so you can seamlessly browse any and all websites (no cookies are blocked), but as you leave those websites, they're automatically cleaned up, leaving no trace in your browser.

                    • When using vertical tabs in full screen window, the tab preview window doesn't show up for the first 15-20 tabs (depending on size of the screen).

It does show up for the 20th + tabs, but the tab preview window is not aligned with the tab, and shows up on top of the screen.

                      Steps to reproduce:

                      1. Open a new window. Create 20-30 tabs.
                      2. Enter full screen window
                      3. Try hovering over first 10 tabs.
                      4. Try hovering over 25th+ tab.

It works as expected when not in full screen window.
I expect the tab preview to work the same in full screen mode vs otherwise.

                      • I noticed that the tab previews in vertical tabs do exist, but they only show up when you have a lot of tabs open, and even so they are not aligned with where the tab or the cursor is.

Still a bug. But probably just need to be aligned properly.
