  • This bug behaves the same as: https://orionfeedback.org/d/7680-url-bar-gets-focus-when-toolbar-items-close-in-fullscreen

    Steps to reproduce the issue:

    1. Make the Orion window Full Screen
    2. Click at least once on the URL bar
    3. Open and close the Tabs toolbar button

You can se the URL bar gets focus and expands.

    Expected behaviour:

The URL bar shouldn't get focus and be expanded after the Tabs toolbar button is closed. In non-Fullscreen mode, Orion behaves correctly:

    Version 0.99.129-beta; macOS 15.1

    Sequoia (15)

    • Hi @Vlad this issue still persists when clicking the Tabs toolbar button. Behaves the same as the Privacy and Downloads button before this issue was resolved.

      Orion 0.99.129-beta; macOS 15.1 Sequoia

      • Vlad replied to this.
      • @Vlad can this vertical scrolling feature be expanded to the trackpad? I would like to scroll through the tabs vertically not only with my mouse, but also with the in-built trackpad. Both Firefox and VS Code do so. Should I create a separate issue for this feature request?

        • @Vlad should I create new issue, or can this one be reopened?

          • Vlad replied to this.
          • Steps to reproduce the issue:

            1. Trigger Tab Overview on a page
            2. There's a chance that the tab thumbnail has top or bottom padidng filled with grey space

            Expected behaviour:

            1. Trigger Tab Overview on a page
            2. The tab thumbnail is correctly displayed without top nor bottom padding

Orion Version 0.99.128.1-beta, macOS Sonoma 14.5

            Sonoma (14)

            • Steps to reproduce the issue:

              1. Trigger tab overwiew on any page
              2. Scroll (assumes you have a lot of tabs open)
              3. Exit the tab overview and trigger it again
              4. The tab overview scroll position does not get updated

              Expected behaviour:

              1. Trigger tab overwiew on any page
              2. Scroll (assumes you have a lot of tabs open)
              3. Exit the tab overview and trigger it again
              4. The tab overview scroll position adjusts to show the opened tab

              Sonoma (14)

              • Thank you for fixing this bug, Orion team is super fast. However, you forgot about the newly added Page Tweaks button – it behaves the same as Privacy and Website Settings before this fix.

              • Steps to reproduce the issue:

                1. Click on the Privacy icon in the toolbar
                2. Wait a half second
                3. Again click on the Privacy icon to close the Privacy report

An empty window with the macOS network icon gets displayed.

                Expected behaviour:
The Privacy report gets closed after clicking the Privacy icon second time.

                macOS 14.5, Orion Version 0.99.127.3-beta

                Sonoma (14)

                • @Vlad why was this issue tagged as Done? It is still present in Orion 0.99.127.2-beta.

                  • Vlad replied to this.

                    • @Vlad The rapid clicking is there just to show the behavior of the bug. The problem is if I open Privacy or Website Settings, I have to wait till I'm able to close it, which I believe isn't intended behavior. Moreover rest of the toolbar buttons work as expected (can be closed without a delay). Consistent behaviour of all the toolbar icons should be desired.

                    • When hitting the Privacy or Website Settings toolbar button fast enough to close its pane, no action gets triggered and the pane remains open:

Moreover, after the pane is closed, in many cases URL bar gets focus (which I hope isn't intented behaviour as it happens only 50% of a time):

                      • @Vlad Why is this issue tagged as no fix? Two years later, Orion is already in a very good shape and hopefully ready to have this resolved.

                        • Vlad replied to this.
                          • Standard tabs
                          • macOS 14.4.1

The tab freeze was present in 127.1 and still occurs in 127.2, although less frequently. I confirm that the trigger (not deterministically reproducible though) of this bug is scrolling while the page is still loading.

                        • Steps to reproduce the issue:

                          1. Open any PDF file with Orion (PDF.js)
                          2. Hit "Toggle Sidebar"

As you can see, the thumbnails are blurry and too wide to fit the PDF.js sidebar.

                          Expected behaviour:

Using PDF.js in Firefox, the thumbnails do not appear blurry and fit the sidebar, because they are much smaller than in Orion. The Firefox's PDF.js sidebar width is identical to Orion, the only difference is the thumbnail size.

                          Sonoma (14)

                          • Orion could take advantage of the separation of main/initial launcher and launchers per profile to implement this feature request: https://orionfeedback.org/d/5563-rework-profiles-to-act-more-like-safaris-profile-management-system/12

Users could use the main launcher, to have all the profiles (and their respective windows) visible under ONE app icon in the Dock, same to what Safari does. Alternatively, they can use the profile-specific launcher, to manage just the single profile under that app icon. If a different profile is launched from a profile-specific launcher, the target profile would open in the respective profile-specific launcher (not in the main/initial one).

This change would make the Profiles user-experience more consistent. Also, I'm suggesting this, because I find it annoying that Orion pretends to open a new intance of itself for each profile. It's a very unusual behaviour for a macOS application. The Dock is flood with Orion profile icons, unlike Safari, where all windows of all profiles are accessible from a single app icon. The way I suggest, users could choose which profile handling suits their workflow.

                            • Vlad Of course, the behaviour is still the same as in the first post.

Safari without cursor over the menu bar:

Orion without cursor over the menu bar:

When cursor hovers over the menu bar, the Orion menu as well as menu bar icons on the right side become visible. However, expected behaviour is that the menu bar stays visible permanently, like in Safari and every other desktop app.
Here is the menu bar setting in System Settings:

                              • Any progress/eta on this issue? It is quite annoying that menu bar is visible in fullscreen mode in every app except Orion.
