    I still see animations

Then that is likely a bug, we should look into that.

As for providing a separate option, I’m still skeptical that this is the right approach. If certain animations do feel sluggish and interrupt lots of people, we should rework or remove them in general.

And I’m not sure adding transitions back when reduce motion is enabled is easily possible, or even a good idea given this is primarily an accessibility feature.

I think we can look into changing the defaults to make the default experience better for all users to the extent we can with the available components. Could you list some animations that you feel interrupt your workflow?

    • Why should this be app-specific instead of following the system-wide “Reduce Motion” option?

As for individual animations, if any of them are particularly annoying, we can try and tackle them by eg. buffering input. But altogether, I think the system-wide setting should suffice.

      • What do you think about preserving the state of the last tab that was swiped away like this? Eg. if you swipe back, your work wouldn’t be lost.

I feel like that’d be a nicer and certainly more discoverable solution.

As for eg. Google Docs, I’m not sure if the website is using the correct API to declare that you can scroll horizontally, but maybe we could add a site-specific hack for this.

        • There is already a setting to switch tabs based on recency instead of order. Do you think extending that option to include closing tabs would solve your problem?

          • If I understand correctly, both behaviors are currently possible. Quitting the app restores windows after reopening it, whereas closing a window "deletes" tabs inside it.

The only thing you cannot do is close all windows at once and quit the app at the same time. But you can simply Close All Windows (⌥⇧⌘W) and then Quit (⌘Q). Whether or not this is practical is another question.
