Bumping this one. I still run into this semi-regularly.
Found some bugs with this. Reported on here: https://orionfeedback.org/d/9969-closing-last-tab-should-show-home-page
- Edited
In relation to: https://orionfeedback.org/d/7903-do-not-close-main-window-upon-closing-last-tab/12
Since the introduction of the setting "Close window with last tab," the behavior when closing the last tab is buggy.
With one tab remaining:
- CMD+W does nothing
- Clicking close on the tab sends the user to a blank window, with the prior website's title bar
With the setting "Close window with last tab" is unchecked, CMD+W on the last tab should send the user to their configured home page. Similarly, closing the tab via close button should send the user to their configured home page.

guardiangate4110 Ok I opened FastMail and clicked around for a while, and yeah it gets slower progressively. Very strange.
Explanation:
When re-focusing orion by clicking on a tab that is not in focus, all hover effects will be broken. Furthermore, you will not be able to interact with certain Orion UI elements such as the tab group switcher. A full quit of Orion is required to re-gain context (closing window isn't enough).
Steps to re-produce:
- Open two tabs.
- Open a different application (e.g., Activity Monitor) and have it in the foreground.
- Switch back to orion by clicking on the tab that is NOT in focus.
- Window context lost: Cannot use tab group switcher, CSS hover effects no longer work, cursor does not change to pointer over elements where it should, etc.

Not seeing this on my end.
This bug has now made its way into Orion Beta.
sullimander 1P passkeys work for me. You have to have the 1P extension installed and the browser white-listed in the 1P desktop app. 1P does not use the native passkey flow, they use their own thing.

Seems to work for me! Though I thought this would also allow us to leverage the native password filling options from providers like so:
I guess this is technically a different issue than passkey support, though.
EDIT: Looks like limitation imposed by Apple. May not possible in 3rd party browsers.
Minor issue. Website title is not always centered in address bar. Possibly due to missing RSS icon on some websites.
The website title should always be dead-center, regardless of whether or not RSS/SSL icons are present.

Attaching video. Shrink the vertical tabs all the way, then close window with CMD+W, then open Orion from the dock. Seems intermittent, but used to work every time.
Add the Bluesky app to the list of available apps in the "open links in apps" settings page. This will allow for bluesky links to open in the bluesky app.
I would expect the Bluesky app to appear in the "enabled apps" list as an option. When enabled, I would expect bluesky links to then open in the bluesky app.
Seeing this, too. Please fix!
Just chiming in here, that I would love to see Orion handle passkeys like Safari does. It currently works well with 1Password when the extension is installed, but for things like Strongbox it doesn't. Safari works consistently every time.
Minor cosmetic issue. A black line appears above the vertical tab list.
A seamless transition is expected.

Given the democratic nature of feature development on Orion, and the pace at which features are being introduced, I propose a feature freeze to be voted on. During the freeze, a renewed focus on the important underpinnings of the browser and development process should occur; it is the work that is deeply unsexy, unexciting, but of utmost importance. My hope is that this suggestion gets enough votes to justify its usefulness to the Orion team, and allow for them to focus on these areas.
Now for the concrete proposal:
- All development on new features should be paused for six months. This time should be used for...
- Addressing outstanding functional defects in the backlog
- Addressing outstanding UI/UX defects in the backlog
- Addressing any technical debt through re-factoring, unit testing, etc
- Enhancing or re-thinking the regression testing process as to prevent defects from re-appearing in the future (end to end testing process, integration builds, etc)
- Stabilizing the underlying WebKit version (no updates unless strictly necessary)
To bring Orion's compact tabs into better visual alignment, I believe some centering work needs to be done. Currently with only one tab open, the URL bar is off-center depending on where you place your other toolbar items. Contrast this with Safari, which centers it appropriately.
Furthermore, the URL within the URL bar should be centered in the case of one tab being open.
Better alignment of elements. See attached safari screenshot for reference.

If the main Orion window is closed, clicking the "pop-out" icon in a preview window does not open the web page in Orion. Furthermore, the "pop-out" functionality does not bring an existing Orion window to the foreground.
If no Orion window is open, the pop-out button should open a new window to display the page.
