A follow-up for #5557 as requested by @Vlad:
I'm still missing some tab previews on mobile. Mostly, it's google search ones, favicons are missing as well.
Attaching 4 screenshots:
1) google (I have a decent google search tabs with missing (black preview)
2) hackernews (found only one tab, usually they're ok)
3) youtube (found only one as well)
4) some random site, link here
expected to have the previews

I know you cant take this suggestion lightly as many users undoubtedly are used to how navigation works now, so changing this will inconvenience many and throw a monkey wrench into their workflows. But i didnt see this discussed yet and if this is to change, the earlier the better.
A side note: I enjoy that iOS Orion feels like "Safari but with all the functions youd expect". It was very easy to transition as a Safari user and it felt like i powered up my game. So i am a bit biased with what i am about to suggest. But i think it makes sense regardless.
The issue: It is unintuitive that the history overflow for the back and forward button are "oldest at the top". I would love to hear the reasoning as it seems arbitrary to me. I expected it to be (like Safari) where the "nearest" item is closest to the nav button depressed, ie the oldest in the history is at the bottom. The Safari way feels very much like dragging my finger down a timeline, where the current way feels like im merely opening a menu and then looking for an entry in a list.
Maybe this is intuitive for some users, but i cant help but wonder if the average new user finds the Safari way more intuitive. Thus, changing this would allow better onboarding for new users and ease the strain for current users who, like me, are failing to get used to this awkward way of navigating.
Selecting “Copy Link” crashes the browser.
Clicking “Download” on https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/2140735574 brings up a box with “Copy Link” as an option. Selecting that reliably crashes the browser.
Not crash.

iOS 18.3, Orion 1.3.18.
The builtin Kagi Privacy Pass support (when toggled to show in preferences) is not able to generate a token - this happens both if you use a session link or login to kagi in an opened tab.
Privacy Pass Token is generated and searches can proceed without signing in to kagi in private windows.

This action just reloads the page without turning on desktop mode.
The action short mimic clicking the desktop button in page settings.

Not applicable to Safari (no Firefox/Chrome extension support)
Orion should prompt me to install the extension.
This seems like a recent bug since I was able to install SponsorBlock before. Unfortunately I do not remember which version that was.

Latest TestFlight version abridges the beginning of the prompt. This is confusing.
Previous versions are able to fit just fine. If padding was added, consider abridging the end of the prompt, instead, or shortening localized translations.

Opening a new tab does not activate focus for the search bar. I am required to type CMD-L to get focus into the search bar.
This is on iPadOS 18.3.1 and with Orion 1.3.17.
I am using a Magic Keyboard but also tested without and got the same results. It’s infuriating and a deal-breaker for making this my main driver. Super excited to try it as soon as this is fixed.
I expect the search bar / omni-bar to get focus automatically for any new page/tab.

If I navigate to settings -> general and set a downloads folder, it doesn’t respect the setting and — instead — continues to save downloads to the local Orion folder on my device.
I would expect Orion to respect the setting and save files to the specified folder.

webpages.
am experiencing a significant issue with Japanese text input when using Orion Browser on iPad. This problem disrupts my workflow, as I cannot input kanji characters correctly. The issue is not exclusive to ChatGPT but also occurs in similar text input fields on other webpages.
Does it happen in Safari (if it could be a WebKit bug)?
No, the issue does not occur in Safari or Brave. However, it does occur in Google Chrome and Firefox.
What did you expect to happen? Describe the desired functionality.
Japanese text input should function correctly, allowing smooth conversion from hiragana to kanji, as it does in Safari and Brave.

When editing a form with an attached keyboard, with the default password manager disabled, Orion does not present the shortcut/completion to pull a password from a password manager.
Steps to replicate:
The keyboard should present a shortcut at the bottom of the screen to allow the user to autofill passwords.

One of my websites (http://serko.nyc) is http only and the Orion browser keeps trying to upgrade it to https, which fails to load the actual page. I have the "Automatic HTTPS Upgrade" preference toggled OFF in settings on both macOS and iOS. This issue is not reproducable in Safari.
The browser should revert to "http" mode and load the web page correctly.

When swiping left to right from the edge of the screen, all too often my gesture isn’t recognised.
I find myself scrolling the page up and down afterwards as I fumble to navigate back in history.
It feels even more extreme when navigating back would close the current tab.
Safari on mobile doesn’t have the same problem, which makes me think gesture detection is different.
I don’t think people will scroll the page horizontally from the edges on the screen, so this shouldn’t affect other features.
Developers who’ve configured drag events specifically for Orion might find the have to update their work.
When starting a new private session and it shows tab in grid view the tab is blank and also doesn't automatically open. Nor does it open keyboard when tapped, as is set in settings
When entering into a private session it should open the new tab as it would in normal session

In the latest TestFlight build, swiping to close tabs in grid view will sometimes close the next row above on the right of the tab you’re actually trying to close. This bug can also cause the erroneously closed tab to become stuck in the UI as seen in video.
The swiping close of a tab in grid view should only have its action point be for the selected tab and not one above it and to the right

The bug encountered on iOS on iPhone. Just checked and works fine on MacOS. Don't know if this is a bug in Orion or in Kagi search (both searches, iOS and MacOS, were from Orion).
