  • Currently when you close the last tab Orion will close the main window. And people, I included, want this window to remain open with a new fresh start page.

Adding a checkbox at "Orion > Settings > Tabs" named "Close window when closing last tab"

    Behaviour:
When the checkbox is checked (true): Orion main window closes upon closing last tab (current behaviour)
When the checkbos is unchecked (false): Orion main window will not close upon closing last tab. But rather open a "new tab" with the "Start Page". (Similar behaviour on mobile Orion / mobile Safari).

    • The suggestion is simple: Support the recently introduced passkeys.

There is already a discussion of WebAuthn, here:

      https://orionfeedback.org/d/197-support-for-webauthn

Moreover, the passkey feature is really WebAuthn under the hood, as far as I understand. So perhaps this feature suggestion should be merged with the above. But on the other hand, passkey usage seems sufficiently different from using a hardware token supporting WebAuthn to merit its own discussion.

Edit: I see this got tagged Desktop. I intended this suggestion to cover both desktop and iphone/ipad, but the web interface got the better of me.

Edit 2: I now see where I missed a rather obvious button. Apparently there is no way to make a suggestion for both categories at the same time.

      • I think it's worth considering implementing the back page gesture currently used in the Firefox browser, rather than the one currently used in Orion & Safari. The gesture used in Firefox seems much faster and snappier due to reduced animations, it seems as if the gesture is simply displaying an arrow on the screen, and invoking the back page button as if I had clicked it manually, in the top left.

Edit: Please also note if the extension is fully working.

          Thanks!

          • Steps to reproduce:

            1. Navigate to "maps.google.com", or variants like "maps.google.com.xx"
            2. Open a new tab and type "maps" in the address bar

            Expected behavior:
Orion should remember the URLs and suggest them, but there's zero related entry shown in the "Bookmarks & History" section.

            Orion, OS version; hardware type:
            Version 0.99.110-beta (WebKit 613.1.12)
            macOS 12.1

              1. Download indicator slightly changes shape when the download completes, but it shouldn't
              2. A monospace-ish font should be used so that the progress numbers don't flash while updating
              3. the arrow without the circle is very close to the top of the border while a file is downloading
              4. Download popup moves down a little bit when the download ends.

              • Steps to reproduce:
Download the Dark Reader extension. From the Dark Reader extension menu, click the Dev Tools button. A new empty window will open.

                Expected behavior:
When clicking the Dev Tools button, a window should open with the Developer options, e.g. override CSS rules and selecting new design for the extension. The behavior works correctly in Chrome as shown in the beginning of the

                • In Orion, when you have more than 12 favorites, only the first 12 are shown in the address bar popup, and there's no way you can access them unless you go back to the start page, which is very inconvenient.

In Safari, it's simply solved with a "Show All" option, which does as it suggests, and it remembers your choice as well so from now on you can always see all your favorites whenever you open the popup. Orion should add this.

                  • Currently, the Orion "find" menu is ridiculously thin and long. Can it be a bit shorter (horizontally) or fatter (vertically)?

                    • My workflow is often to open links in a new tab via a "middle click". I will then switch to the tab (usually manually), and have a look at it. If it is not what I was hoping for, often I will gesture "back" out of habit, but this will not do anything, since I opened the link in a new tab.

Posing as an idea - should the "back" gesture on a newly opened tab (i.e. currently visible tab is the oldest in the history stack) close the tab? This could create a risk of an unintuitive scenario where gesturing "forward" won't restore that, since it would be the "forward" gesture on the previously opened tab, which might be "nothing", or could be another tab.

On the other hand, in defence of the idea, I imagine a lot of people will open a series of new tabs, then go through them triaging them for relevance, closing the irrelevant ones. Gesturing "back" on them would seem to be intuitive, and this is likely the expected outcome for the user, if they swipe back on it - if they and just opened it regularly, back would take them back to the previous page, so this should adhere to "principle of least astonishment".

                        For colored tab chrome
Compact tabs need to be added. Just like Safari's, except they use Safari 14's design for the compact tabs, and also have a spot near the window buttons and toolbar buttons, and the right corner near the "+" button wherein the browser is draggable with the mouse. There should also be an option for people such as myself who want a web-application-like experience and wish to remove flotato and instead use this browser except with the colored tab color option on, in which I have to resort to Safari to use instead. I would suggest making an option for users who would like this, as well as tab colors

                        • Please add side by side tabs. This is good for research, work, or social networks.
Command click two or more tabs, right click ,and choose side by side.
