Give the user the option to directly have the keyboard ready on the 'new tab' page. The current behavior forces the user to do an extra tap on the URL bar in order to get access to the keyboard and start a new search. The Firefox mobile app opens directly the keyboard when opening a new tab.

For me it’s about bypassing spotlight. When I need to quickly reference something I use a shortcut to a new Safari tab on my Lock Screen and it instantly unlocks my phone and opens a new tab allowing me to begin a Google search with suggestions almost instantly. I do this because searching my phone and searching the internet are two entirely different things to me and I get frustrated trying to get spotlight to accurately predict which kind of search I’m attempting. It’s not one click though, because Safari doesn’t open the keyboard so there is another opportunity for Orion to implement a Safari feature, but even better.
