  • Vlad at first im able to save this image by saving to photos - however, when I got Unsplash to hit the download button it just opens in a new tab.

    • HI, would be amazing to get this audio/video downloading extension to work:
      App version: 1.3.10 (8) (WebKit 8619.1.26.30.7)
      System version: 18.0.1
Device type: iPad Pro 5 12.9"
      Native bounds: (2048.0, 2732.0)
      Scale: 2.0
      Regular tabs: 2/2/2/https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/video-audio-downloader/pchlfebelfohhojoomlngjbkcjponfha
      Private tabs: 0/0/0/(

It’s to grab certain audio I may come across teh web so that I can remix and edit.

Whenever its on - the user would be able to take the audio or video of some sites into a downloadable MP3, WAV or MP4 file.

      • Vlad [ This is a video of me trying to download a PNG in Canva using Orion.

In Safari when the download bar is finished in Canva an iOS prompt comes up asking if I want to download the file.

        • Vlad replied to this.
        • Whether it was downloading an audio file a JPEG or a PNG It would often simply open a new browser tab without allowing me to save the file directly into my files. This does not happen anywhere On any other browser.

I anticipated it would save it to my local files but I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that it’s calling a desktop version of the website When I’m using the Orion browser on my iPad Pro.

          The latest version for iPadOS

          • Can’t wait to see the updates. Thanks again for all you do.

            • Hi, would love to find out what keeps this extension from working on Orion. I used another extension that my buddy made similar to this one I want to use and it overlaid a new button on LinkedIn profiles. This extension I want to use on iPad is https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/people-to-notion/mnefanhigbjeejlkhhmmnmbngimlmphc

Would love to have this work on Orion on iPad.

It’s supposed to add a button just under the name section of a LinkedIn profiles and send this data over to linked notion database.

              • Vlad I’ll check - you’re referring to actual Safari extensions correct?

                • Similar to the YouTube app on iOS being able to cast to chromecast

I tried installing a few extension from chrome store and Firefox but they didn’t work.

Anytime I watch a video on any website I’d like to be able to open the ellipsis settings in the Orion app to launch a video into my chromecast here at home

                  • Here’s what shows up: ![

Then I went to go look for the chrome user agent string online since it wasn’t listed as an option, just default and custom. I don’t know if its accurate: I used
                    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/104.0.5112.79 Safari/537.36

                    • You’ll be able to see the difference in website when you go to add a new row to a database block. On mobile it opens up a full page view for that row and leaves the database block completely.

The desktop version allows you to continue typing in the database view. From what I read the way they determine how to serve this version of the site has to do with touch optimization so its less a mobile site and more of a touch screen flag that people used to be able to overcome with JavaScript.

                      • Right now video editors like Riverside.fm or CapCut seem to leverage some kind of code on Chrome that only works with desktop browsers for their online web based video editors. I think it would make for a huge value prop and progression of mobile browsers on iOS to find a way to integrate that into Orion the Same way you somehow managed to allow for chrome extensions.

Im not sure what kind of code is operating that allows for this but it would be a huge leap forward for mobile browsing.

Often when going to edit a video on the desktop you have the ability to leverage the web based video editing tools - and in particular Riverside.fm has been optimized for Chrome.

It would be literally game changing to be able to do this from an iPad and im confident that they would even welcome the teamwork if you reached out and offered to create this development together for a strategic effort.

It would open up the world of mobile computing and leveraging modern web app tools for the iPad world.

                        • Vlad replied to this.
                        • By default it will serve the mobile optimized version.

                          • This would likely be solved by making vertical tabs on iPad possible the same way they’re rolled out on Desktop. In the interim, being able to pin tabs and have them show just a favicon would be cool.

Makes for less wasted space in the tab bar.

Again you’ve done something like this on the desktop version of the app with just the favicons showing when choosing to use vertical tabs.

                            • Vlad Vivaldi has this and Tabs on Bottom but honestly I would like Vertical Tabs with just favicon. That would be super useful. Same way it’s implemented on Desktop - but yes Vivaldi has multiple windows.

                              • Notion WebApp serves the mobile version of their website because it scans for touchscreen/device identifiers, slightly different from UserAgent. People used to by pass this with a JavaScript code but I believe many websites serve a touch optimized experience simply because their sites can check for touch screen = yes.

Would open up more of the desktop versions of sites like Notion if this was looked into. Very niche of course, but Notion in particular is one WebApp that simply wont solve this and I believe Figma and CapCut also dont work as webapps with full functionality due to the Mobile Device being triggered.

Since Orion can launch chrome extensions it would be cool to see Orion add code that allows for CapCut web or Riverside.fm to run and of course this Notion issue.

These are really the last limitations for iPad users and Webapps. Aside from Riverside, CapCut and Notion - MAYBE the Google Webapps don’t always work as intended due to this TouchScreen and Mobile triggers. So a different version of the desktop sites are served.

                                • Hi, Would love to have vertical tabs the same way they exist on the desktop version of the browser. The issue with having vertical tab groups instead of vertical tabs is I was looking for more of a launcher experience similar to how its done on desktop. Is that even possible on iPad?
