I have been able to make a couple of purchases through Orion but it's unreliable enough that I won't initiate checkout processes using Orion anymore for fear of not being able to complete my purchase.

The screenshot above was taken on Deliveroo.

Apple Pay should work just as it would in Safari. Where Apple Pay isn't directly available, being able to handoff to my phone would be great, as not all websites sync your basket across devices.

Does enabling compatibility mode change anything? or what about using the Safari user agent?

jcf have you checked whether apple pay works on those sites for other non-safari browsers like chrome? AFAIK, the sites have to use a new api introduced in sonoma to supoprt non-safari browsers, so compatibility isn't guaranteed.

Joke aside, I'll ask the team.

jcf Apple Pay is supposed to work similar to any other third-party web browsers, as Apple don't allow using Apple Pay in same way like Safari do.

I have the same issue. Orion is on the left-hand side of the screenshot, and Safari is on the right. When I click it, it displays "Your browser and/or computer do not meet the requirements to use Apple Pay. Try a different browser."
But according to the release notes Orion now supports Apple Pay as of December 10, 2024
