First search experience in Orion is bad

Pretend you’re a new user of Orion
Download the app for the first time ever
Type of search into the search bar on the bottom
NOTE it asks you to select a search engine
I selected Kagi
RESULT it forgets your search and you have a blank search box

This is literally going to be every user’s first experience with this browser. It should not forget their search and make them do it again, it should remember the search through this process and once a search engine is selected, it should perform the search

I completely understand what you are talking about, and yes, it's annoying. We are working on a trial version of Kagi without prior registration, which will streamline the experience.

What you described probably happens only when the user has not yet set their Kagi session token and wants to set Kagi as the default search engine after attempting to search without first setting a default search engine.

In every other case the search query is not discarded.
