  • An embedded YouTube video opened in a new tab does not have its ads blocked

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Install Orion Version 0.99.130.3.1-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4)
  2. Create a new profile
  3. For testing, I created this very simple HTML file which embeds the following YouTube video
    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html>
    <body>
    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cbfP0f__oAc?si=vuR4E_cDmO4vkTz1" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
    </body>
    </html>
  4. Open the HTML file created in the fresh Orion profile
  5. Click the video title to have it open in a new tab
  6. Notice that none of the ads seem to be blocked (both preroll and video list ads made their way through in testing. Sometimes only the video list ad is displayed)
  7. Refreshing the page gets rid of the ads

Other notes:
I wasn't able to find a filter list configuration that did not suffer from this bug. This would suggest that for some reason the adblocking filters/scriptlets aren't applied properly when the user opens a youtube video from an embedded post on a forum, for example.

Expected behavior:
Ads should be blocked even when the user finds their way to YouTube this way.

Orion and macOS versions:
