Betelgeuze This post helped me import the spaces.
TL;DR: Don't import through preferences, import through File > Import From > Arc.
Every Arc space becomes a saved window in Orion.
Unfortunately, the import still has a few flaws.
- All spaces across all profiles get imported, in spite of choosing a profile to import from. Expected: Only the spaces of the chosen provile get imported.
- All pinned tabs get imported as a flat grid of icons.
- Tabs inside folders aren't imported
- Favorite tabs aren't imported
- I only see large grids of tab icons without titles and cannot see any way to switch the tabs to list view.
- The sequence of pinned tabs is not preserved. They appear to be sorted randomly in Orion.
- Some Orion windows have much fewer tabs imported than the originating Arc space contains
It appears that "pinned" tabs are what Arc knows as "favorite" tabs, except that those favorites aren't shared across saved windows. Arc's notion of pinned tabs has no equivalent in Orion. The resulting import issues keep me from migrating to Orion, unfortunately.
(Plus, I would dearly miss Arc's genius idea of auto-closing unused tabs after a while. But that's a different topic.)
What I would expect from an Arc import:
- Arc favorite tabs turn into Orion pinned tabs
- Arc pinned tabs (including tabs inside folders) turn into Orion open tabs
- Auto-closing tabs either don't get imported at all or turn into normal open tabs
