All of a sudden, two days ago, downloading linked files stopped working on browser across all websites. It does not happen on Safari.

Clicked links result in no files being downloaded. I have tried manually changing the download folder to another folder, with no change. Have also tried in compatability mode, also with the same results.

I expected the linked file to download to the download folder

    Could you check if updating to Version 0.99.129.1.1-rc (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4) fixes this issue for you?
    For what it's worth, I haven't had any issues with downloads and was unable to reproduce this issue. If the issue persists, could you create a new Orion profile and share a video of downloads failing on it?

      As naive as it may sound, did you check whether System Settings > Privacy and Security > Files & Folders still had a permission to access the Downloads folder listed for Orion?

      Another thing to check is whether the Dowloads folder is still selected as the value of the File download location option in Orion's settings, on the General tab. Maybe switch this option to Ask for each download just to compare the behaviour?

        laiz I am a dummy and I could not figure out how to find the 1.1-rc build. I did try installing the latest version of Orion (non-RC): Version 0.99.129-beta (WebKit 619.1.11.111.2). This is working for me, while the RC build does not.

        (Soto voce: I confess this is probably something I should know by now, but should I generally be using the RC version or the regular Orion? A question to research elsewhere, so as not to bog down this request 🙂 )

        I tried it on RC with a clean profile, as you suggested, with the same results unfortunately. Not sure how to record nothing happening when I click download. But I can try and show what happens in RC vs Version 0.99.129-beta (WebKit 619.1.11.111.2). Will upload shortly.

                jbeg Can you post simple steps to reproduce the issue? (video would be helpful)

                    Attached is a video showing expected actions when trying to download a google doc in both Orion RC and Orion. In the first nothing happens, while in the second it downloads just fine.

                          Vlad I did reproduce it on a clean profile. But I tried it on my desktop and it worked fine. So I am guessing this is something related to the machine itself or to the "security" configurations my work put on it (it is a university owned machine). I will use the non-RC version on this for now. Clearly this is something idiosyncratic not only to me, but to this one machine. Thanks for trying to reproduce so I knew it was me only.
