Vlad I also mentioned this a while back, and you mentioned that it was for compatibility with Firefox.

Vlad Perhaps combining the "Bookmarks bar menu" and "Favorites" folders, or simply removing the favorites folder and renaming "Bookmarks Bar" to favorites is a good solution.

Not really sure why people would not want their Bookmarks Bar folders to be on the start page, it simply complicates things, as they may as well just not use the start page.
It would also make a great excuse to create bookmark folders on the start page atop that.

Vlad You can simply "hide" the bookmarks folder from the sidebar, but still have it present. Not sure how this would work in code.

Currently in my Bookmarks folder list is Favorites, Bookmarks Bar and Bookmarks and none can be removed.

All folders are unnecessary as all should fall under the list of Bookmarks and perhaps add a folder called Other Bookmarks for those that people want hidden, similar to Chrome setup.

How it currently looks, all folders useless and unremovable.

Would be better if it looked like this:

Jayshai I seem to remember similar requests from the past. Can you look through the forum and a link a couple so we can merge them and discuss the optimal solution?

                    to summarize previous discussions:

what should be done is to have a top level "Bookmarks" folder, BUT in the UI, don't show it to the user. it would be merely for API compatibility.

this is because that bookmarks folder doesn't need to actually do anything important in terms of organization.
the other special folders, Favorites and Bookmarks Bar, should show up above all other bookmarks, and the contents of the Bookmarks folder underneath.

                    basically:

eirk Oh this is very elegant. We could just remove Bookmarks folder from the menu, sidebar, window when we are editing.

The showcase of this folder is unnecessary, so hiding it and making it invisible, perhaps two pixels high, and removing the nesting of all bookmarks underneath.

Remove the empty space which is the red area. It can be removed visually.

Fortrikka changed the title to Hide bookmarks folder .

@Vlad old issue that might not be difficult to implement

I got the latest update to Orion
                              Version 0.99.124.1-beta (WebKit 616.1.10)

It is installed on iMac (macOS Ventura 13.3.1 (a) build 22E772610a)

The release notes stated the Bookmark Folder had been removed.

But that Bookmark Folder is still there.
