When switching to another profile, don't open a new window

When I switch between my profiles, I want to stay in the same browser windown, not open a new one.]
I only want new windows to spawn, when I press cmd + n (or select it from the menu).

Less open browsers, less clutter on the desktop.

Profiles are completely separated from one another so I don't think this would be feasible.

I understand the desire to reduce clutter. Would something like a setting for quitting the current profile when a new one is opened work? That might be doable but I'm not sure how popular such a feature would be (to justify spending developer time on it for now)

Also, I would suggest re-evaluating if your use care really needs profiles, cause switching between profiles should be quite rare. Maybe your use case can be achieved using tab groups, which can be switched in place?

On Arc, I have two spaces ("Work" and "Personal"), each with its own profile ("Work" and "Personal"), and I switch between the two many times throughout the workday (e.g. to check my Whatsapp Web instance, go on YouTube, Twitter, etc.) seamlessly, without sharing cookies, history, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe this is the kind of use case @Kris is describing.

This would be awesome, I often use two or more profile (work, personal, music) and it is quite annoying to have three windows open, it would be much more efficient to simply switch within the same window bby clicking on the profile icon and selecting a different one. Upon right clicking you should still be able to create a new window for said profile.

Or, not to throw off current users, leave the default behavior as it is but create a setting option to instead switch profile within the same window.

Tinholoco Those are really not isolated profiles, but more like session containers that you want similar to firefox containers. We can do that too. Orion profiles are

Fully sandboxed
Optimize performance (slow tab in one profile does not affect your entire browser)
One tab crashing in a profile does not crash the other profile

They are different things.

Vlad Well yes and no, I would like the ability to quickly switch within the same Orion instance between profiles, but I understand this might be a limited usecase and so no reason to implement.
