Since MacOS Sequoia was released, we now have the passwords app on Apple devices that syncs passwords easily and acts as a verification app. However, Orion does not use the passwords app and since I don't use Orion on iPhone, it isn't very pleasant to have to constantly export from Safari and into Orion. I'm wondering if it would be possible to use the Passwords app in MacOS Sequoia and have an option to integrate that into Orion directly so that it is easier to save passwords across all devices even if you don't use Orion on all devices.

In MacOS Sequoia, Safari directly integrates passwords through the Passwords app, and it would be great to see this in Orion since it would be much easier to manage passwords across all devices.

ejgavin Orion can surface Safari passwords through Keychain (and has been doing so for two years). What exactly do you mean?

ejgavin May I ask why was this not obvious to you and what can we do to change that?

Vlad Sure! The reason it isn't obvious is that even though I had gone through the password setting to check, the option you have to uncheck to use Keychain doesn't specify when you stop using Orion's Keychain, it will integrate with Keychain. Maybe a way to make it more obvious is by adding a longer description mentioning this?

mktd This is not possible, that API is avaialble to Safari only.

But it works like that on Chrome - they have an Apple passwords extension. It would be great to have that in Orion (I much prefer Orion over Chrome)!

Can you add native compatibility with passwords app like safari?

User could use the apple ecosystem and apps to integrate their passwords with the browser for easy login information access.

The only way right now to integrate it is installing iCloud password extension from chrome web store.
              Without extension: 🇦

I choose password providers, then it directs me to passwords app when I can choose the login

After login is chosen, it ask for MFA. So, no longer works because I cannot use the mfa from my saved credentials in passwords app.

Using the iCloud Passwords extension from chrome web store:

              Same login flow:
Options are prompted quickly when I click the username or password field:

Then, I choose my login, passwords app ask for my fingerprint and the fields are filled:

Now, when GitHub ask for the mfa token, extension prompts to choose the correct mfa login info

After I choose the right one, token is autofilled and I can enter to GitHub.

There is any way to have this flow natively just like safari do?

dparedes07 Can you read the thread above and let us know if we need to make any changes to make this more obvious?

Vlad Thank you, didn't saw this post before, Thank you Vlad.

dparedes07 I would like to ask you what can Orion do differently so users are not confused about this?

@Vlad On iOS (and MacOS), if i set my autofill app as Passwords then login to a page in Orion, it does not ask me to save my login information. On Safari, it asks me and automatically saves everything into the Passwords app. I don't think this is acceptable.

@legar I think it's private API too. If you set autofill app to another app (like Strongbox), Safari won't ask to save login information
